Actually what I bought was a CD. There was no catalogue number though, and it was also signed by Osamu Shoji, so I suspect he did this release himself since it is his own music. ;)

The scans finished downloading. On the back of the booklet it says stuff like Side 1 and Side 2. I'm guessing this was recorded from the LP and someone just put it on the CD. It's okay, at least we have the Soundtrack. That's all that matters.

Osamu Shoji is a composer from my childhood days. Most of my "musical memories" came from him. I am very happy to have the LP of Wicked City. ^_^
One of my precious soundtracks from him. He also did a big ammount of works of my "lovers" which are called "Synthesizer Fantasy - Digital Trip". He mostly composes and performs with his synthesizers. Not really something to be listend by someone that might want symphonic stuff or anything else.
But hey... Long Live the 80Ts. :D

Fokkusu

Some extra info:

This is apparently not a record company release, seeing how there is no logo anywhere on the booklet or CD. I bought the CD from Osamu Shoji's website, so I assume he released it himself and that he gets 100% of the profits. So it's not a fake but not technically official either.

Also, I saw a release year somewhere else on his site; it says the CD was released in 2002.

Orie
05-25-2012, 08:46 AM
I was also getting that info in his website , but I assumed that there have been a limited edition release somewhere.

Maybe we can get from the missing Black Jack cds and the other Digital Trips? Who knows

Omg!? Am I really downloading this right now!? It's kinda hard to believe that I am downloading this after all these years. I guess it's finally time to light up my Cuban cigar Thank you so much Fokkusu!! I have been looking for this since 2005.
I also had no idea that Osamu Shooji had his own website, gonna check it out. Cant wait to listen to this when it's finished downloading.

D'aww, I'm glad you're happy Manny. ^_^ I knew you'd been looking for this soundtrack for a long time... even longer than me! XD

And I have more possibly good news! I found an old thread on a Macross forum where someone had been sharing the Hell Target OST. The link was dead, but I PM'd someone who had downloaded it and I'm waiting for a response. No guarantees, but it's better than nothing. =D

Here's the link to Shoji's website: shojicorp.com (http://www.shojicorp.com/)

I bought the CD from 133CDs.

Hell Target??? wow. Let us wait and see. We all waited for this share of roots a long time.

I have 2 sayings i use as my own philosofy of life:

1 - Whoever waits, alwasy gets.
2 - Hope is the last to Die.

well, I have translated to english from birth language proverbs. :)

I have 2 dvds of this OVA of Black Jack... and I have not watched it yet.
It might someting bad on me, but I preffer to see it when I have the sountrack. Sadly, in my country it was only released in 2 dvds , episode 1 and 2. :(

No, I only buy specific soundtracks from anime titles I've seen and really liked (almost always sci-fi). I haven't seen the Black Jack anime. Anyways, I'll probably have to save up all summer if I ever wanna hear Hell Target. :(

It's not you-know-who, I swear. XD His spelling is much better and he's actually shared that album before.

Well, if the guy with Hell Target never responds... I will most likely be back at my summer job soon anyways. It doesn't pay much, but I might be able to buy the CD on Y!Auctions a month or so after I start working. I already have $40, but that would only cover middle-man service costs. x__x Still, maybe Manny's new savings account can help us afford a copy in the future since we both want it. ;)

I did ask Otokichi Premium to keep an eye out for a copy under $50, but they said it's really rare so it's unlikely they'll find one at that price.

There is also apparently an LP version with the number JBX-28004... I'll keep an eye out for that too, but it seems to be less common than the CD.

No kidding, this thing isn't even on ANN. Last time I checked, at least.

I did not saw it there either when I wanted to get infos about it. I searched for a japanese wiki about it. Only way to have info about the ova.

I am not really into LD. I do not even have LD reader. Most of my Original anime releaeses are VHS, because I hunted them down. I quality is quuality, but I still see quality and good one in vhs. I still preffer VHS then DVD.
VHS is dead in my country since 2004. Last VHS I got was KILL BILL Vol.1.. after that date VHS disappeared. I only had to get DVD even if I did not wanted too.
I know I am too materialist in this point, but I refuse to take on trash the VHS I used to record tv shows and anime and movies, and replace it for digital. I am always cleaning my tapes and giving them a lot of attention. After all, they were always my only friends I had in my childhood.
I was the freak guy no one wanted to be friends.... because..... I was freak XD.
So getting rid of it just because of digital stuff I found it disrespectfull to them.
I know it is a very abstract talk.

FREAK I told you.

Naw, I get it. I have Roots Search on VHS as well as LD, actually. I prefer LDs when I want really high quality, but VHS tapes are easier to rip (I don't have an LD player so I'd have to ship it off for someone else to rip). VHS also tends to be cheaper than LD, and this college girl is on a budget. XD I've also noticed that VHS anime is easier to find than LD. So yes, there are some advantages to VHS... I have a few tapes of anime that never made it to DVD or even LD (American release of Lily-CAT, for example). I like to display my VHS copies too because they look nice and give me nostalgia trips. XD

Orie
05-30-2012, 12:31 AM
oh. I so understand you. I have one iron tower given by a friend that you put all your VHS tehre. prettyy much the same you do with cds. Get waht I am saying?
I have it there all my collection of all MangaVideo VHS releases released in my country bewteen 1996 to 1998. They are my treasures.
But my biggest treasure is... My tapes of ARMITAGE III. 4 tapes. abnd convers are awsome even on the sides.
I discovered these tapes were released in my country ina very very underground label called "Animezoon"They had only teh 4 tapes of Armitage III, one tape for Kishin Heidan and one for Moldiver (only 2 eps in here. And I have not yet donwlaoded it because I want to see it full-.)
So they only released 6 tapes in total. Apperently they went "bankrupt" because these tapes had no "fame" sort of speak. They were all released in 1996. They did not get the "fame" they wanted because...... tehtapes were only on sale in one unique city in all of my country. So yes, not ven I hat do not live in their city knew these came out. A bit stupid, yes..... but Great it happened at least. ARMITAGE III is "my precious"
inthe middle of some others more.

most of my VHS achievements were really a hell of money saving in kid days. My granny could not affort my desires, only my studies, so that is comprehensible. But at Least I manage to collect all I could and as i wanted.
Now I look at my collection and think "So much good memories! ^^"

theturokfanboy
05-30-2012, 12:38 AM
I actually prefer LD and VHS over DVD. They just look more organic and smooth. No digital stutter that's on DVD. I also have nostalgia trips when I look at my collection. Don't even get me started on the waste that is Blu Ray.

Orie
05-30-2012, 12:49 AM

On a somewhat similar topic, the U.S. anime distributor I stuck with back in the early 90s was Central Park Media. They mostly released the more obscure, dark, gritty, and serious anime. That's the kind of anime I usually go for. I honestly can't stand mainstream anime. Now back to CPM. The first VHS I bought from them was the ORIGINAL VERSION of M.D. Geist. Currently I have 3 tapes of M.D. Geist and 1 is still sealed. I also got a bunch of other tapes from CPM. It's a shame they died out. Now all we have to look up to for GOOD old school anime is Discotek / Eastern Star, RightStuf and Nozomi Entertainment.

EDIT: Honestly while Manga Entertainment released some good old school anime. The video transfers, especially on DVD, are just awful.

Orie
05-30-2012, 01:10 AM
I also preffer "the more obscure, dark, gritty, and serious anime"
It really is difficult nowadays to see something really good. The only anime I want so bad to see rcent is Shakugan no Shana Final. The stpry really is great. and it is one of my favorite animes in top. It is very very difficult for that to happen in my anime top list.

Justa question...off topic...
Did you actually Liked MD Geist? What did you like in it? :/
Iam asking this because... MD GEIST is the most hated anime I ever saw. And I really do not like it. Besides the soundtrack. Only thing I like it.
Care to walk me through it? ^^

theturokfanboy
05-30-2012, 01:21 AM
Not only do I like M.D. Geist, I ADORE IT!!!! But explaining why I like it is VERY HARD to do. There's just something about it. I don't take the movie seriously which most people seem to do. All I can say is that I find the OVA very badass and very entertaining. I think it's a fun watch. But, don't even get me started on the godawful sequel that was made 10 years later. By the way, I don't watch the Director's Cut, even though I have the 2 disc DVD. In fact I have the Mecha Masters Explosive Anime Classics Box Set which includes M.D. Geist, Cybernetics Guardian, and Genocyber, and the M.D. Geist Soundtrack and the 1st Genocyber Soundtrack. I can rip the M.D. Geist Soundtrack in lossless if you want me to.

Orie

INcredible has I found teh both OVA of MD Geist worthless. That is really how I felt about it. Again, I am not throwing rocks at you because you like. Do not think that. I respect that you like. BUt I really did not found it entertaining. I hate the personality of the guy and I had no fun at all watching it. :/

I also loved CPM back in the day, and they did hang in there for a while. My favorite U.S. distributor was Orion Streamline Pictures Video Comics. I think they did more of a great job on their voice actors than CPM though, but that's my opinion. RIP Carl Macek.

I can't see dubbed anime by americans- I just can't. I feel like they hired porn actors/actress for the voice casting. They some weird sounds that make me think they are having sex in the background. Americans duubing anime is horrible. I have never found any that was good.
MangaVideo was dubbed by americans or britains??? Because there they did hell of a job. Except The Guyver OVA......voice acting was baaaaad 0.0
So bad that I had to see 1 episode for day. If I continue to see it... I would loose it. XD

Yeah, I wish they had released Lily-CAT subbed. :( I do have a bootleg DVD made from a really nice Japanese laserdisc rip that has both English and Japanese audio though... so I can watch it in Japanese and still know the story. The English dub isn't that bad though; I think the worst dub job I've ever seen was in Dark Cat.

I wish Streamline subtitled Golgo 13. Urban Vision later subtitled it but butchered the title sequence. Thankfully Discotek will release an actual remastered DVD with better subtitles and original title sequence restored. Plus it will have the commentary track with Osamu Dezaki taken from the Japanese DVD. I can't wait for it to be released.
