Awesome! This is what I called volume 3, starts with Julius Ceaser.

One little problem: track 3 is missing.

Please upload that...and the other volume you said you had. Thank you. :-)

Please, do not keep uploading in WAV and ignore anybody who tells you that you should. It creates senselessly large files. FLAC (or any other lossless codec - but FLAC has greater cross-platform compatibility and is easy to decode for weak systems) provides identical sound quality and files often less than half the size of the original.

That's less work for you to upload, and less work for us to download; every little helps for folk with metered internet connections and when you're counting the bytes, discovering that you have to download 700mb instead of 300mb is something of a downer. Not to mention for folk on slower connections, that's the difference between a three hour download and a six hour download...

Thank you for this splendid upload; I already had it from another source. It's a splendid album and I'll be buggered if I know why it hasn't been released on CD.

Whatever format you "throw" at us is fine, man. It's already great you're sharing, those who are not happy with the format, might as well endure it and convert it afterwards.

american_idiot

I was struggling with the same question. As far as I could reconstruct the tracklisting yesterday evening it must be the following:

01 Julius Caesar
02 Lady Hamilton
03 The Killers
04 Lydia - Love Theme & Waltz
05 Lydia - Introduction (Lydia's Portrait); Four Piano Improvisation: (i) The Bubbling Stars; (ii) The Colour Red; (iii) Harlequine; (iv) The Sea, Piano, Soloist Eric Parkin
06 The Private Life Of Sherlock Holmes - Fantasy - Violin, Soloist Erich Gruenberg
07 Five Graves To Cairo
08 The Red Danube - Prelude
09 The Red Danube - Nocturne
10 The Red Danube - Deportation Scene

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

WAV is perfectly fine, and it will get re-uploaded anyway.

tangotreats
05-21-2012, 12:24 PM
Again, WAV is pointless and causes unnecessary difficulties for both uploader and downloader alike.

It is not that I am simply "unhappy with the format" - I am keen to help the uploader chose the best possible format for his uploads and not to be distracted by advice from people who don't have the necessary knowledge to make an informed judgement. The fellow said himself that he was apprehensive about uploading as it was his first time and was keen to do the best possible job he can.

There is no case for WAV, ever, full stop, end of story.

Leon Scott Kennedy

WAV is audio in its raw format, ready to get burned, thus it's still fine. I've yet to encounter the guy which goes and suggests you to burn FLAC or any other "losslessly" compressed audio without converting it back to wav, first... and maybe i've just been lucky up 'til now, but comparing the sizes of a few albums compressed in wav and subsequently in .rar... and the same albums on flac... the difference in filesize is minimal, 40 MB... 80 MB at most, but again... this is only personal experience.

EDIT:
I don't mean to say that your suggestion is wrong, tangotreats, I want to tell the guy that he's free to choose whichever format he wants.

What I was meaning by "keep uploading in wav" was a polite statement regarding the already great effort made by Phideas1 who seems not to be at ease with computers/files format stuff. ;)

Here is what I do with my LP rips, maybe this help

First I Rip the LP in Wav with the soundforge program
Source noise and clicks can be cleaned with a vinyl restoration plugin

Then I make a CD using the CD architect

When I have the CD burned (That will be an audio CD) , I rip that one using the Easy CD-DA extractor
to FLAC for best quality or to Mp3/320 for standard quality

I do not like people suggesting that I am ungrateful, a moaner, or one who makes demands of people who are doing me a favour - because that is as far from the truth as one could possibly get. Having been a member for five years, made nearly three thousand posts, shared hundreds of different albums, and contributed to countless discussions in a positive and respectful manner, I am massively chagrined to be judged and cast as the bad guy.

I have demanded nothing; I have merely attempted to stop the spread of misinformation. I do not believe in condescending nonsense. Since you have a slow connection, one would have thought you would gratefully receive a suggestion that would cut your upload time in half. As I believe I have stated three times now, it's wonderful that you're willing to share (and share such a magnificent album, for that matter) - but education, improving yourself, honing your technique... these are all good and positive things!

I shudder to think what would happened if Shakespeare had written "ONCE UPONA TIEM THERE WAS A NICE KING CALED HAMLETTE" and somebody had stepped forth and said "Interesting start, but you could learn to do better - perhaps you might become a great writer; perhaps even the most influential, famous, timeless writer who ever lived!"...

...And everybody had shouted "That's wonderful! Don't you change a thing! You write what you want to write, and don't let those moaning complaining bastards tell you otherwise! Don't tell the man how to write his stories! I don't see you coming up with anything better! He's writing to you for free! Therefore he is immune from criticism even if the criticism helps him immeasurably!"

Hey Tango, I wasnt suggesting nothing of the kind.

What I was trying to say is that if Phideas1 knows only to upload in wav and doesnt have the knowledge or the time to study
new softwares and hardware , lets welcome the wavs.

Later (If phideas agree) somebody with the technical knowledge can convert the files to Flac or Mp3
and re-post the new files, or send phideas1 a PM with the link so he can re post in the front page of the thread
where the link is easier to find.

I could do that if needed.

tangotreats
05-21-2012, 10:22 PM
I wasn't talking about you. ;)

I absolutely agree; if the gentleman is only willing or able to do WAV at the moment, that's great. That doesn't mean there should be some imposed moratorium on discussing good ideas for the future.

I see it this way, WildwoodPark was trying to be helpful, simply mirroring the 2nd volume. Just as I did in another thread. Now that we have it in FLAC it is EQUAL to original WAV quality, only smaller in size.
So question to Phideas1, are you going to finish the set of all three Rozsa gems? This was so close to perfection, but we're just left with Young Bess Suite from the missing volume.
And by perfection I mean the lossless quality as well as mastering quality, and of course the music per se.
Anyway THANK YOU Phideas1 for what we have so far, since we could have nothing...
