HUMONGOUS EDIT:

Since I found a new and awesome program to rip PS1 music with, I re-imported all the files from my GH copy of Spyro 1. I also got a hold of damage-free, 100% readable copy of the PAL release (not Platinum). Unfortunately, it seems that the identical tracks on the EU release sound slightly worse/more distorted/more compressed. Fortunately, the exclusive tracks sound just fine.

So, without any more pointless text to keep you away from the goodies, here is the 100% COMPLETE COLLECTION of Spyro 1 music:

My Files (http://www.mediafire.com/?u133rs83qcgdq)
CHANGE OF PLANS! This link above leads to the edited versions of the tracks, up-converted and fade-outs applied. I would upload the unedited tracks somewhere else some day.

P.S. My G.H. copy of Spyro 1 has 7 duplicate tracks for some reason. They seem to be identical, but in fact have slightly differently mixed stereo (not sure how to word that, since I am no mixing expert). Anyway, they sound a little bit different.

Is PS1 music ripping something that can be taught by a tutorial?

And I never got to play much Spyro in my Youth. How is it?

I bought it just to hear Stewart's music used in context. It turned out one of the best platformers ever made. It WAS made by Insomniac Games, after all.

As for "how to", the only program that worked for me was PSX MC. UNfortunately, it only works on certain drives. The one I used was on an HP computer I have at my college. It did not work on two other ones I tried. There is no tutorial for using the application; you just have to figure that out for yourself.

Holy guacamole, I finally found it! A modern/recent program that converts PS1 files LIKE A BOSS!

I got the entirety of Spyro 3 right here:

Depends on the file format and how it was constructed on the disk. Spyro 1's was XA, and XA can be converted to WAV, and then to FLAC or MP3. I use VGMTrans to rip XA data, and the vgmstream plugin for Winamp to write to WAV, then I convert that to MP3 and then tag it. But sometimes, the XA data is just hard to extract, or the game uses a different format all together (Although vgmstream can play nearly every video game streaming format).

JPSXdec outshines that.

Line-in is for pussies and losers.

Apologies to everyone who uses line-in.

The answer is a fig fat NO. Several of the Spyro 1 tracks just happen to have white noise in them, most noticeably Stone Hill.

Well, the Greatest Hits copy of Spyro 2 is finally in my hands! And almost mint, no less!

WARNING: all tracks are just as unedited as ever, so good luck with Audacity:

A reminder: since all my links are folders, some of the tracks might be removed and re-uploaded in the future for reasons beyond your understanding.

Nice! You've misspelt the word Crystal in both Spyro 2 and 3 though, as "Chrystal".

Oh no, I did NOT misspell that word. This is how I always spell it. It is the old spelling, the original, and my personal favorite.

And to prove such spelling/pronunciation existed, there is the russian "hrustal" for you.

Oh okay. No qualms about me changing it to the in-game spelling for my copy, then?

EDIT: Harbor Trolley Trouble. Oh you utter, utter troll you! Also thought it'd be interesting to point out that the Mountain Shattering Sounds are slower in the PAL version.

Drat!... Drat drat drat drat!... Double drat!... That stinking game is defective! I thought I could finally play Spyro 2, but no! The disc has a manufacturing defect, which means no amount of cleaning will ever fix it.

At least the music files were not corrupted.

Damn it, now I'll have to send it back and order a new copy.

Damn, that sucks! What seems to be the problem? I had issues playing Spyro 2 from the disc on my PS3 (the cutscene audio was screwed up).

Triple drat then! I am playing the game on my PS2 right now, and there isn't a single problem! The issue is clearly with my PS3. Is it the laser wearing down, or glitchy software?

It would probably be the software emulation the PS3 uses to run PSone games (whether on-disc or via PSN).

I don't really know for sure. I had played Year of the Dragon on PS3 before. Twice. And nothing was wrong. It is now, though, and I suspect the laser/software update.

Do the tracks go in order of the mediafire download numbers?

I'm kinda confused :/

Just wondering if there's a proper track listing.

(I'm trying to retag them myself..)

I'm sorry to derail the thread a bit, but: System Update 4.40 - Page 6 - PlayStation Forum (http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-3-General-Discussion/System-Update-4-40/td-p/18574120/page/6)

Some users are reporting that the PS3-drive stopped working with the latest firmware update, thing is that... according to what they're saying, at least... Their drives won't read anything: no CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays. Are you having issues only with Spyro 2? If the answer is yes, then there's a chance that it might be only a laser's problem (which may not be necessarily dying, mind, just needing a bit of realignment).

I've installed 4.40 on 3 different PS3 (the now 'rare' 60 GB with PS2 backward compatibility, a 160 GB Slim and a 320 GB Slim)... No issues with either model, everything plays fine. Guess I've to count myself lucky. Too bad that these goddamn updates are mandatory if you want to go online.

Of course there isn't any order! I normally arrange tracks so they correspond with their respective level number. Home worlds go first, regular levels second, speedways third, and boss battles last.

Well, Spyro 2 and SH Downpour were the last two things I played. The latter played fine (I think). But yeah, I think it must be a software update.

However, this incident reminded me I need a new DualShock 2.

Here' what I'm curious about, how did you come up with the remix names for some of your tracks? (Alpine Ridge (Dream Weaver's Mix), Cliff Town (Peace Keeper's Mix), etc.). Because as it turns out both your and Raziel's rips match up.....other than the track names. Oh, and you each have one alternate that the other doesn't. Your rip has an Alternate Dark Hollow, this rip has an alternate Peace Keeper's "Theme" as he called them. Though if your mix names are correct then they aren't themes at all.
