I honestly can't think of another song from a video game that reaches the level of perfection of Zanarkand. In my opinion, it doesn't get any better than this. Even when you strip away everything but the basic melody, it's still moving! And when it's orchestrated, like here (Zanarkand (FINAL FANTASY X) | Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY (http://store.ffdistantworlds.com/track/zanarkand-final-fantasy-x)) the result is world peace. Seriously, someone find a way to a put this on everyone's iPod, or any similar device; the world would be a, even marginally, better place! Anyone agree? If not, recommend some songs!

I've never been a huge fan of "at Zanarkand". It's not a terrible song, but there are better orchestral pieces on the soundtrack IMO. As for the remix, I think it sounds almost uplifting, which clashes with the melancholy feel of the original. But, as I said, I don't particularly like the melody anyway.

Dunno about best ever, but it is certainly a gorgeous song that makes me happy every time I hear it.

It's gorgeous but not the best EVER. I do love it, though. :)

Nope.

'Scars of Time' is a better song.

I've heard better songs, and its over used.Seriously, there is like 4 or 5 version in the game.

1:Spanish guitar version in all albhed shops.
2:The slow one which is in besaid, and a lot or cutscenes.
3:The mountain version, which is faster paced.
4:The really slow dramatic actual zanarkand theme.

It's one of my favourite FF tracks at least. To Zanarkand and A Fleeting Dream.

My answer is no.I honestly think its repeated too much in the game, because there are like 5 or 6 versions of to zanarkand, and i think its overkill.

Example:

Final Fantasy X OST : To Zanarkand - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-0G_FI61a8) This is the main title theme
FFX Someday the dream will end - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xRCjjiTR7I) This one is the one that appears in the ruins of zanarkand.
FFX besaid island - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxJE6SSX-aw) This is a remix of the zanarkand theme.
Final Fantasy X OST - Movement in Green - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eA5b-V2-8yY) mountainous theme and remix of to zanarkand.
Final Fantasy X OST - Spira Unplugged - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnd_h1-FzqU) Another remix of to zanarkand.

I do like that there are variations of to zanarkand, but better as a showcase than in game.Too many variations of the same song.

Ever? I disagree, but I will say it's one of the best tracks for FFX, and FFX already has a very killer soundtrack.

Not even. You ever heard the score for Super Mario Galaxy on Wii? Not even shitting you, it's breathtaking.

I agree with you on that one, the music for Super Mario Galaxy is just fantastic.

I do have to respectfully disagree. It is a pretty song, but in my opinion Hymn of the Fayth and Silence Before the Storm are much better songs even on the same soundtrack. My main issue with "To Zanarkand" is that aside from the beautiful intro it's very meandering. Nice piece of music, but I think Nobuo Uematsu has done much better work.
