Found this on another forum I go to, so thought I'd post it here and see what response it gets.

Long rumored and much anticipated, The Elder Scrolls Online is finally being unveiled in the June issue of Game Informer. In this month's cover story we journey across the entire land of Tamriel, from Elsweyr to Skyrim and everywhere in between.

Developed by the team at Zenimax Online Studios, The Elder Scrolls Online merges the unmatched exploration of rich worlds that the franchise is known for with the scale and social aspects of a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Players will discover an entirely new chapter of Elder Scrolls history in this ambitious world, set a millennium before the events of Skyrim as the daedric prince Molag Bal tries to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm.

"It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years," said game director and MMO veteran Matt Firor, whose previous work includes Mythic's well-received Dark Age of Camelot. "The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise."

An in-depth look at everything from solo questing to public dungeons awaits in our enormous June cover story – as well as a peek at the player-driven PvP conflict that pits the three player factions against each other in open-world warfare over the province of Cyrodiil and the Emperor's throne itself.

Come back tomorrow morning for a brief teaser trailer from Zenimax Online and Bethesda Softworks, and later on in the afternoon for the first screenshot of the game. Over the course of the month, be sure to visit our Elder Scrolls Online hub, which will feature new exclusive content multiple times each week. You'll meet the three player factions, see video interviews with the creative leads, and much more.

The Elder Scrolls Online is scheduled to come out in 2013 for both PC and Macintosh.

Seriously though... Considering that there's still plenty of bugs in Elder Scrolls IV Skyrim and the upcoming patch to allow Xbox 360 gamers with the Kinect gimmick, to be able to use voice commands for spells, open doors etc (ala Mass Effect 3's "Better... with Kinect" bullshit), is it really wise for Bethesda to be looking at this so soon? So far it's only being stated as for PC and MacIntosh gamers... but honestly, who knows?

I suspect they've been cooking this up for a long time, and Bethesda never rush into anything - what was it, like 6 years between Oblivion and Skyrim? They make so much money on their games that they can afford to go at a much slower pace than most developers. They also have never come across as a stupid company - they'll know that whilst they can get away with glitches and bugs galore in their offline games, they'll have to tighten it up for a MMO, simply because of the enormous cost, and potential for disaster if they get it wrong.

They're such a cautious company that I don't think they'd be making this announcement, unless they felt they could make a real go of it. I'm not into MMos as you know, but if I had to put my money on any game to compete in this very tough arena, it would probably be this. The market clearly there for this game, and people have been calling for some kind of online way to play Elder Scrolls for years now.

Plus, they have the Midas Touch, don't they? They could fall in a river and come out dry - i.e they always seem to succeed when it really matters. So I think it would be pretty unwise to bet against them. As one of gaming's big hitters, its a case of 'Get on board, or get out of the way' when the Bethesda Juggernaut comes rolling through town.

other players?
wrecking my game?
i suppose i will try it out, and you never know,
but actual "roleplaying" has never been all that possible in mmos, at least I've never been able to get properly submerged,
i play elder scrolls to get away from tedious reality, and i don't want it sneaking its way back in through the ganks and lols of nerks

I had heard this from a friend but he tools me they were making skyrm an mmo... But he is an idot needles to say. But mmos are my favorite mainly because the pvp... But if its anything like the the two worlds 2 online playwe might as well all shoot our selves in the face because that was by far the worst attempt to make an mmo in the history of the internet...
