What are the scariest boss fights you remember from when you were a kid (or now) that made you feel kind of startled or scared from any video game? Name as many as you like or remember.

Zelda Ocarina of Time - I remember being terrified of the first? boss fight with Ganandolf where he is crossing portraits on a wall while riding a black horse.

Metal Gear Solid 1 - The elevator fight where the boss was invisible and you couldn't see him. It always freaked me out.

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire - I don't recall which ones, but I remember damn near every boss seemed scary to me. That game was pretty dark for a Star Wars game.

For me,nemesis was scary at first. That son of a bitch jumped out of a window, and i knew he was and still jumped as a reaction. If you don't kill him,he starts to follow you around in random locations. He even waits outside of the save room. The thought of someone following me who just won't die,and having a limited amount of ammo is a scary thought. If you get the unlimited ammo thing, then of course its not as scary.

The doctor boss in resident evil code veronica x:I read his diary, and heard that song. The moving bags are also freaky.

Hey sackboy, you ever play metroid fusion?
There is a song called:Serris gone.Very tense song.

The metroid on gameboy is also very tense.Thats the one that comes before super metroid. You are running around, and all the sudden:The music changes. You see mutant metroids on the rampage, and your like:OH NO!!

I finished fusion but didn't care for that game. I thought it was too easy. It's been years so I don't remember the soundtrack much.

Edit: Just listened to it. It's very techno-y.

The dragon in Demon's Souls scared me at first because of its enormous size and because I'm afraid of dying in the game.

I forget its name, but that huge, crazy spider-looking, 4-headed, 4-legged monster you fight early on in Suikoden 2 after you meet Neclor is freaky as hell. A brilliant design indeed!

The final boss of Final Fantasy VI. After the music switched to the proper final boss music, and he came down, I threw my controller down and ran out of the room, crying. Good thing I was second player, but my sister still had to convince me to come back and finish the game with her. The other bosses leading up to the last one were pretty freaky, but the atmosphere of getting to the last one was just too much for my young brain to handle.

Likewise, the final boss of Bram Stroker's Dracula (SNES). That time, though, I didn't throw my controller, and I kicked his ass. It was more that he surprised me than scared me.

Finally, Giygas from Earthbound. More disturbing than scary, but i'll admit, he freaked me out. No amount of sugary-happy ending after that made me feel better until later that day. What the crap?

The Shadow Queen from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. And I was playing at night, by myself, with the lights out.

That floating orange spike bomb fish in Donkey Kong 64 you beat as Lanky, it was more thrilling than scary, but still pretty scary for my age.

When I first loaded up Breath of Fire II for the first time on my SNES and saw the first 'boss' fight was this guy:

Towards the end of the game had a rematch against him before the final boss (Dethevn), and he still gave me chills.

Call it silly, but I hated encountering Dopefish in the Commander Keen games. A huge unkillable fish that swallows you whole? "Oh HELL no! Run away!"

Doom 1's cyberdemon -- I was one of the rare kids who played that game without cheat codes.

Not sure if I would count her as a boss fight but S.H.O.D.A.N. from System Shock 2 was pretty disturbing. The whole game was pretty disturbing. "Prepare to join your species in extinction."

Not really scared me but it sure did creep me out. The final boss of Kirby 64 The Crystal Shards, Zero Two.

Giygas (EarthBound), Zero Two (Kirby 64).

Funny how some of the scariest bosses come out of these happy-go-lucky, sugar-coated games.

I also enjoy watching people fight Chozo Ghosts in Metroid Prime who have no sense of patience and just mash buttons like crazy and end up looking like an idiot and then dying.
