Hiya fellas,

The DXHR soundtrack that shipped with the game was pretty lackluster. The extended one was much better, but still lacking. So i decided to fill the gaps. I downloaded the rip and edited the tracks, but I need help with fitting them into soundtrack. Here you can download what I have:

[download no more available]

I ask you to help me pick the best tracks and name them right.

Most of them are already nicely tagged, but I'm not sure how to name "SAM" tracks. Of course any feedback on editing would be great.

I still gotta properly look into Missing Link tracks, so I will get back shortly.

UPDATE:
You can get the whole of it HERE. (Thread 124804)

Are these layered tracks already edited?

SavagE
05-04-2012, 07:52 PM
um yes, I mostly merged together tension and action tracks, and left ambient ones alone. There are a few exceptions tho (like detroit convention center). Some tracks are trimmed here and there as they werent phenomenal ;) On the other hand I regret some werent longer, like police station action cues

Whats the deal with the discarded ones?

SavagE
05-04-2012, 08:17 PM
I felt that they are not good enough to be included within the expanded score. Hm I just realized that it would be complete then. Well. Still - it's debatable :D

OrangeC

Then it won't be complete!! Those tracks are awesome too!

SavagE
05-04-2012, 08:56 PM
true dat. That's not a big problem tho, as I can prepare both versions if anybody would like all of them tracks. The main problem lies within naming the tracks, especially those occuring in tai young medical. Some of them I named shanghai daylight for now, but i dont know what to do with others. Also I think I havent omitted anything significant, but I would appreciate any note on that. I hope I can count on you, Orangie ;)

I think you need to combine ambient tracks with stress and action cues in all-in-one themes for best listening experience (like on Michael McCann' s Splinter Cell: Double Agent promotional soundtrack). maybe not all, because tracks like "detroit ambient" is good as standalone. I think three CD's is optimal for expanded edition of DXHR OST: first CD for Detroit music, the second CD for Shanghai and CD 3 for compilation of most memorable themes from other locations.

SavagE

hmm good idea. I could look into that. I just left ambients aside as they are mostly great and I like to listen to them separately when chilling :)

I think the SAM tracks are Sarif Manufacturing (i.e. the first mission level). Just my guess, though. Also, I have been mixing the excellent rip of the game myself (mostly just sequentially adding layers and a bit of gain tweaking once on a track to was so loud it clipped when all of the layers were merged). I think the biggest challenge with this is that, on the one hand, the ambient layers are really great and relaxing on their own, but on the other for a cohesive soundtrack, the other layers pretty much need to follow, for the most part (especially given how short some of the layers are on their own). The only real exception in what I've messed with personally was Detroit Back-Alley, which was long enough that I could justify splitting it into separate ambient and combat tracks.

SavagE
05-12-2012, 11:40 PM
of course! How could I forget that! It's gotta be sarif's plant! Much thanks! Unfortunately there's no clue how to name them on the official soundtrack - they are only connected to the 'mole' track. So I gotta come up with something. Or you :>

okay, there's progress!

here you can download my The Missing Link tracks (http://www.speedyshare.com/Bky4z/DXHRML-tracks.rar). 8 total + 1 bonus. Also I realized that I omitted some interesting cues in the game so there's still mixing ahead of me.

Ok guys, another progress. I realized, that my material was seriously lacking, so I edited every other track that wasnt in the official score (maybe besides that morgue ambience).

You can grab it here, if you want: dxhr missing tracks.rar - Speedy Share - upload your files here (http://www.speedyshare.com/9gASh/dxhr-missing-tracks.rar)

I will now proceed to select the best cues, decide what ambient tracks are good standalone, ant what arent. Should be back with result in two weeks or so.

Ok folks, all the mixing is done. I only need to pick, name and arrange tracks. Naming should be the hardest part. If anyone is willing to contribute, please pm me. I also merged some ambient and action tracks as some of u suggested, there are 8 of them:

i put all of tracks together and damn - this thing is massive! Almost 3 times larger than ost, 72 tracks in total. I just need to come up with some decent track names (and i know from experience im on my own with this one) and arrange them according to game's plot and voila!

I am still thinking about the fate of Panchea tracks - they range from flatout boring to unimpressive dark ambient, but there should be at least something (apart from boss track) from one whole big level.

there has been a new development - I realized I havent included tracks from the prologue. THe problem is, two of them are interactive cutscenes, and are encoded with game sound. So I emailed Michael McCann himself and let's see where this would get me. It would be really kickass if he shared those clean tracks somehow.

SavagE
09-08-2012, 10:09 AM
Why? I just asked him for legal means to acquire those tracks. I'd gladly buy them. The reason I'm making thins is because the "expanded" soundtrack was not that expanded at all ;) Anyway he hasnt responded yet, so I guess I will stick with the gameripped cues for now.

okay, so mr. McCann didnt respond so we're stuck with two track with sfx for now. On the positive side, I gotta say this adds some depth when you listen closely.

Track #3 is when the intro walk & talk with megan. I am not 100% fond of the name, so...

Two tracks, 4 & 57 are quotations. The first one is the elevator ride from the beginning of the game. I could come up with anything better than "elevator ride", so I thought that Pritchard's line could do the trick. The track no, 57 is Warehous (at belltower dock). The "call the boys..." quote is from the trailer, u cant hear it in the game, and it doesnt translate to gameplay 1:1 (as there's no "boys", only jensen), but I thought it sounds cool :D

#45 is when you have to get to the funicular, deeper at picus comm. Could come up with anything more imaginative.

#46 and #47 - those are from the picus sub levels, ambient and action track (too long and too awesome to fuse them together). Having most problems with naming those. two.

#73, #74, #75 and #76 - panchaea tracks (besides insertion). I dont really know how to name "hangar" differently and not sure if "zombies" fits to the next two. Maybe "crazies"? or "insanity"? And what about tower track? (named "An argument with darrow") Not sure about that one too.

#77 Zhao Boss Fight or Hyron Boss Fight?

Comments and suggestions about other tracks much obliged.

jgaustria

I would rename #4 with "Deus Ex Reprise" or something like that. Maybe put it in brackets.

#3: Maybe "I'll walk you part way" or "Sarif Industries"? I'd favor the last one.

#7x: I don't remember exactly whether they were Zombies. I think not. If so, I'd call those tracks "Insanity".

Don't worry too much about the names. It is, after all, all about the music.

Hey SavagE, here is my notes about tracknames:

2. 'Prologue' or 'Introduction'. The second variant is 'Megan Reed Theme - Introduction' or "This discovery Adam... It's big - Introduction"
3. 'Human Revolution'. Second variant: 'Human Revolution - A Walk With Megan'
5. Maybe 'Sarif Industries Terror Attack'?
7. 'Sarif Industries' (because this is a theme of Sarif Industries too, not only menu music). Second variant: 'Sarif Industries - Main Menu'

I think you need to split large tracklist into three section/CDs: CD1 (1-29), CD2 (30-51), CD3 (52-80) for example.

And what about other tracks from game? More hacking and stress/action themes, music from Pause Menu and extended version of 'Home'?

Also Unreleased Music Megamix is megacool!
