While working on my walkthroughs for the main site (at this moment FFIX) I decided I want my characters at level 99 before the end of the game. So, then I got to wondering how many people make the effort to get to Level 99 with their characters? And how does it feel when you make it there? So, please share your thoughts and words of wisdom as I begin my quest to make Zidane level 99 dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnn!

It's rather fun to get the characters to that level. You have the satisfaction of seeing how easy it is to defeat the enemies. ;)

If you want a tip, I suggest getting each character to at least lvl 50 before you complete the first disc. It will be much easier to progress along getting them to lvl 99 in no time at all.

The only game I maxed out the characters on was FF8, and it's stupidly easy to do that.

Guess I really just don't have the patience to do it anymore.

FF6.. .All around lvl 60. Levelling up always takes too long when at a high level.... it's easier to get from 50 to 60.. .then for 60 to 65 x_x which takes the fun out of it for me...

I got around the lvl 80 for Cloud, but that leveling up was so unfair since you fought most of the time (all of the time) with him, so even at disc 1 he had an adventage over the others by 10 levels.

FF8 was.. disappointingly easy... This was the other extreme of leveling up... god.... disc 1 was like already lvl 30 if you took some time in it.

FF10... Sphere grid owns :B

FFVI was the only one I bothered leveling to 99 with but that was just Terra and Celes to see what spells they learned.

It's quite easy to level up in FFVI, actually.

Just take a single character equipped with an exp. egg out in the "Dino Woods", north of the Veldt ( I think... ) in the world of Ruin. It's a small forest near the cabin of Gau's father where the only ennemies you'll face are Bracchiosaurus and some other dino monster which name I forgot. Then let the monsters in that area taste the mighty combo of "X-Magic-Vanish-Doom". I got from level 40-something to 99 with Locke in a matter of one hour or two. heh.

Well, there's 2 games I've gotten my characters to Max Level. The first is FF1, but it tops out at 50. Which is still insane for that game, since you can kill Zombie Dragons for HOURS before you even put a dent in a level. I think 49-50 took maybe a week of playing for just that one level. Of course, at lvl 50, everything but the final boss will die in one attack. And he still only takes 1 round

FF7 was the only other game I've maxed my character levels in, but that came from me just trying to get Master Materia for everyone XD Magic Jars do give a good amount of Exp.

As for the opposite, I'd have to say FF8 was the game I finished at the lowest level. I'm pretty sure I was around level 18 or so when I beat the game. Junction system made that game waaaaaaay too easy.

ff8 i maxd myself out at, purely cuz it was nice and easy and i thought - why not :P

ff7 on disc1 i was at like lvl93, but then i gave up playing it :P

ffX became easy to beat with celestial weapons, made it very fun to take on the dark aeons :)

That's what I did!!! *lol* Though I mostly defeated them with good old weapons, or Ultima. And I didn't get all my characters to level 99, only 12 of them. Gau had to stay home for the end battle, and well... Uhm. *coughs nervously, avoids the spoiler and shuts up*

FFVII was easy... 3 mastered Exp Plus on my characters, then just go to the North Crater, and on the left path you will find magic pots... Item-dupe elixers and just keep killing them.. You will get to lvl. 99 in a matter of no time... Not to mention if you have Triple AP weapons and Run Armlets (the ONLY Double AP Armor) you can master ANY materia in no time at all =)

I also did so in FFIX... I got to about level 55 before the end of disc one (climb the rope behind the moogles at Gizamalukes grotto to fight Garuda's and the dragon enemies ^_^, stuff you usually don't find until disc 3 and disc 4... Couple that with the Level Up ability for EXP times 1.5 and your set for the rest of the game ^_^

FFVI was easy, with the strat already stated...

I also did FVIII naturally....

FF4 as well...

and FFTactics ^_^

i only have 99s in 7. those characters are stupidly powerful too. ive spent about 120-130 hours doing so, not using item dupes and magic pots also. each person has a master magic and command, at least two mega-alls, finalattack-revive combo, and ribbons. im working on getting stats to 255 right now, gonna take a while.

I've never gotten any of my characters to level 99. The closest I came was in FF7 I had cloud at 96. I came pretty close in Tactics also, mid 80's, but that game was just too easy with TG Cid at that level. The rest of the FF games I normally finish with my characters in the mid 50's.

like most people sed, ff8 was a total breeze, u can get squall to level 100 b4 u even leave the garden by fighting trexaurs. ff10 takes a bit of time, unless u get the celestials, double or triple ap. ff7 takes quite the while, but i managed somehow in the northern crater. ff9 was kind of annoying, but some of the people are hard to beet(optional boos, u know who i mean). ff6, well, something glitched my game and all my peeps were maxed out. and then the others are just time consuming :lol

I Have done this with every FF game I played from FF6 and up. I also take the time to do everything there is to do in the game to its fullest extent. I took everyone in FF10 all the way around the sphere its great :D

I tried to master that LV99 thingy in every FF but I only managed to reach LV 100 in FF8...

hmm... I tried it with FF5 very hard, but its not easy, cause... i dunno!
I cannot find really good enemies with lots of EXP... :(

Well, I should try it with FF9... gehehehehe~

to be honest i've never got to maximum level on any of the games but then again i play them for the storyline, i would say that getting to level 100 is pretty difficult on disc 1 of ff8 i managed to get to level fifty be the end of disc one, it wasn't that difficult to do just constantly run around in forests and dungeons, as thats where alot of different monsters reside.

I don't like maxing my characters before I beat the game. It takes the whole fun away from playing. Furthest I got was FF7 where I got to level 97 then my game got deleted. I had already completed it several times before this and killed all the Weapons so I wasn't too bothered.

i only ever got Cloud to 99 but Barret is currently at 97 and Red XIII is at 94 so maybe i'll get them up (someday:D)
in X i completed Tidus and Auron's grids totally (and maxed out their stats which is hard and tedious)

I think thee only game ive ever had all characters maxed out was FF7. First I got up to 99 then i went to the downed gelnika and beat monsters for guard sources and all that good stuff untill i had cloud and tifa completly maxed.

yeah, easy to max out in ff8 with island closest to hell/heaven
the other games don't need that kinda footwork unless there's a prize 'cause otherwise u have just turned whichever ff into an arcade game
