Most people I have talked to always say that they "Hated" the Draw system that FFVIII had. Personally, I loved it. I sat there for hours just drawings spells from monsters XD I mean yeah, you can use it to raise your stats, when you use some of the magic your stats drop, but that's not much different than Materia from FFVII, when you equiped Materia your stats Dropped anyways from the Side Effects of the equip.

But anyways, I'd like to hear what some of you think? ^^

The Draw system would be better if the magic you drew could be used unlimited times. So that's why i didn't like it...and sometimes it didn't work anyway, so it wasted time.

I kinda liked it and it was perfect for the Junctioning system. You would never have to be afraid to run out of Mana/MP in order to cast spells. You can even cure yourself with the use of your enemies Magic. Als the hidden drawpoints let you search for particulary strong magic and ofcourse the ability to refine magic puts you in a position you can't actually run out of it.

The Draw system made me afraid to use magic. I was always worried about casting Curaga or Full Cure on myself because it compromised my Max HP, I was worried about using Ultima because it compromised my Dexterity or strength. As a result, my character relied more and more on just one spell. Aura to get the Force Breaks up, and then step back and watch Squall as he tears everyone up with Lionheart.

I liked draw/junctioning for its innovativeness and the fact it had not been done before.

However, it was flawed in that enemies just had infinite magic and other 'kinks' perhaps in drawing and junctioning.

It was good, it was innovated, but need perhaps a revision before being released.

Not really. I hate drawing cause it takes atleast twelve turns to fully stock a single spell. It takes so much time to draw and you end up using more spells than you draw, so you have to draw again and again.

Let's see. Short answer: No. Full answer: The whole junctioning system was pretty good, except that it paled in comparison to the materia system. The only really bad part was the actual drawing. It's time consumming and boring. Also, magic was really weak apart from a few spells (Aura, Aura and Aura). A good system in theory, let down by poor execution. Junctioning is still fun though. :D

It was alright, but I like "learned" magic better though. I had to have 100 draws of everything and couldn't cast magick because I junctioned all the good magick spells stuff to vital stats such as Hp...

Aura and meltdown :p

I like the draw magic system. It's good how you can share it equally and everyone can use it. And you have to draw or refine it, not just top up your MP to use it.

I have a mixed opinion on the Junction/Draw system. I liked the idea of drawing magic from enemies and using it against them... I didn't like the idea of drawing music from enemies and Junctioning it to a stat. It causes you to avoid casting that magic because of the fear of drowning your stats while doing so.

I disliked like the Draw system in more than one way, but I learned to live with it.

i loved 8's system. i never like to use magic anyway in games, so it didnt bother me. you could get super great stats in that game becuase of junctioning.

i never cared much for the materia system in 7--it didnt do enough.

It sounded good in theory, but actually sitting in battle and drawing 100 of each spell was a major pain. Also because it would lower my characters stats if I used any spells I very rarely used magic until I was at the final fight in the game.

Overall I much prefer the job/materia/esper magic systems.

If you thought FF7 didn't do enough, I would imagine that FF8, in the huge general eye, does a huge fraction of what FF7's system can do.

Besides... in FF8, you couldn't Mime+Command Counter and HP-Drain+Knights of the Round... and that was always cool to do when you just want to kill things. ^_^

I liked the draw system for 2 reasons. I never ever ever use maqgic ina any of the final fantasies (excepting curative magic and Lulu in FFX) The fact that I could use all this magic I had stocked up cause I wanted to waste a chars turn so another one could do the final hit thing was great. Now i get to give the character I like the most experience and use the magic to boost him as well.:D

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">I liked drawing mainly because I thought the junctioning system was great. People say that it takes ages, but if you compare it to the amount of time you'd need to spend mastering materia in FF7, shall we say, then drawing works out to be a hell of a lot quicker. It still could get pretty boring, yes, but I did like the system overall.

I like it not a lot though. it was certainly something new for the series. it was pretty cool and all the waiting for the magic lets you know that you have patience for playing the Final Fantasy series.
i don't really use magic in that game anyways. all i just do is fight fight fight.

I liked the draw/junctioning system, though sometimes I think it could have been better. It was an interesting concept.

I have mixed felins bout it. I Liked the Junctioning, Giving yourself 99 Curagas on health was awesome. But i hated the fact that if you used any of your magic at a later stage in the game your stas would drop. It was like a Double edged sword really...one side strong giving you extra stas while the other side sliceing your hand and killing your stats.
