Here are some that I have noticed:

- Shinra's / Scan description of the Jumbo Cactuar says that it's "giant and green, but definitely not Jolly." (Ho ho ho, Green Giant!)

- When Rikku switches to the Samurai dressphere, she sometimes say "Crouching tiger, hidden Rikku," a reference to the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon</I>.

- Sometimes when Rikku uses Two/Four Dice (I think, need to verify) she says "Big bucks, big bucks" a possible reference to Press Your Luck</I> or Whammy!

Anyone notice any others?

In the opening movie Rikku's first line sounds a little different voice-wise, as well as the fave looks slightly weird from that angle... If anything, I would say she looks/sounds like a certain pop princess coughcoughbritanyspearscoughcough

sorry I had to say that =)

Here's another funny one I found. When you play Isaaru's little game, if Yuna asks if it's him, Rikku says that it does sound Isaaru and then Isaaru asks "Is that your final answer?"

rikku says "get out of here kid, you bother me!" or something like that when she is some kind of warrior or something, which is definitely a quote from a movie that i cant seem to think of.

Titanic simply means huge, large, or powerful... So no it wasn't a reference to the ship called Titanic...

If you remember, Titans are found in Greek mythology, they were sinister creatures even more powerful then most of the Gods...

what i was thinking was that it could have been referring to how the titanic ship was supposed to be the best but in the end was a total failure. and vegnagun was thought to be THE ONE but in the end was a total failure. probably that reference.

its not a refrence (talking about titanic)
titanic:

Adjective
1. Titanic Of or relating to the Titans. 2. a. Having great stature or enormous strength; huge or colossal: titanic creatures of the deep. b. Of enormous scope, power, or influence: "a deepening sense that some titanic event lay just beyond the horizon" (W. Bruce Lincoln).
Other forms
titan'ically adv.
Adjective
Relating to or containing titanium, especially with valence 4.

anyone know where possibly "we won", "an empty win" come from?

Yes, let's put this to rest. "Titanic failure" has become a popular phrase that lots of people use without even really thinking about necessarily what it means.

Anyway, on with the discussion: I don't know that an empty win is necessarily a reference. Just seems like something Paine would say.

I've heard from GameFAQ's that "Duck Soup" actually means easy. They say that it's quite a common saying in Hawaii.

Yuna also says "Game over man, Game over," when she's a Lady Luck. That could be referred to hippees or people who use "man" alot. That quote is weird coming out of Yuna's mouth.

I just saw this and had to mention it. I was in Chapter 3 and went to the Bikanel Desert and then the Cactuar Nation. So Marnela tells her story and I had Yuna flag it off, saying "That sounds a little farfetched." I then left and went back to Picket to try and leave... and you know what he told me?

Picket: What, you think you're done here? Think again. Hu cuib vun oui ihdem oui vehecr drec zup! (No soup for you until you finish this job!)

On the demo of FFX-2, when I beat Boris (large crab) on the Gullwings Swoop Into Action level, Rikku and Paine sometimes say."Thank you, come again!" Refering to Apu from the Simpsons:angel:
