Hi all
Recently to my GamersUnite26 channel I put up a review of Street Fighter x Tekken and to my surprise, something unexpected happened.
I went to the copyright page and it stated that the review contains visual content from SBSi.

I've submitted a dispute saying that the review is under fair use (Which it is because it contains education and criticism which fair use covers) and am now waiting a response.

You can see the review here as for now the video has been allowed to be made public (Hope this isn't breaking any rules)
Street Fighter X Tekken Review - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYYAT6P1_qM)

Can anyone explain what all this is about? I've been making reviews for quite a long time and never before have I encountered this problem.

It's quite simple. Some asshole who gets paid minimum wage or less to troll Youtube and sling shit about their corporation's "Intellectual Property" (heh..haha...hahahaHAHAHA *hysterical shreiks*) has stumbled upon your review. He thinks, just MAYBE, if the planets are aligned just so and you squint real hard at a magiceye, your video might have something vaguely to do with his company. Accordingly, they are pitching a fit to YouTube about this most grievous legal injury.

Yes... apparently showing a few minutes of gameplay is going to cost them revenue. People will watch your Youtube video and think "Well, I was going to buy that game - but since I've seen some guy playing it for a few minutes I don't really need to now! Hot diggety!"

These people are beyond pathetic.

Honestly, I severely doubt that. The claim appeared right after the video was uploaded, even before the video had 1 view.

Never mind people, I've just got up and checked my e-mail and the claim by SBSi has been released.
I guess it was either a mistake or my fair use claim was deemed valid.

If it was a review, you're more likely to get the fair use treatment.
I think youtube is leaning towards allowing "mashups" and short fan edits to be considered "fair use".

or visual matches. Even if you revert the image or anything.

Youtube has an automated system at work to detect potential piracy. The fact that your video is flagged doesn't necessarily mean anything will happen.

From Youtube:

What does this mean?
Your video is still available worldwide. In some cases ads may appear next to your video. Please note that the video's status can change, if the policies chosen by the content owners change. Learn more about copyright on YouTube. (http://www.youtube.com/t/copyright_center)

This claim does not affect your account status.

I remember when they shut Team Four Star down for awhile. I was sad. But then Team Four Star came back, and my childhood memories could be laughed at still.

In the same vein, they keep banning LittleKuriboh........

I'll never understand why they banned LittleKuriboh and Team Four Star.
According to the act of fair use, you are allowed to use copyrighted content provided you use it for parody, criticism, commentary and education.
Littlekuriboh should fall under the parody section of the fair use act so I have no idea why he got banned.

Youtube videos getting taken down is a joke! Anybody 'stealing' music from youtube needs to learn how to listen to good music.
