A popular attraction on many FF-based forums, FFXI players can record their progress and adventures in Vana'diel in the form of journal entries, much like what can be found on www.livejournal.com .

As a way to liven up this forum somewhat, I'd like to invite any and all interested FFXI players here to start their own journal in this very forum. I'll be sure to begin my own journal soon! :3

- Anyone interested will have their own separate journal, and can create and begin at any time. No posting entries in someone else's! However, questions and comments on entries will be allowed in all journals, unless specified otherwise by the author.

- Journals will be stickied once I see them, to keep them at the top of the forum list. Double/triple/whatever posting is fine, but I ask that if you're planning on updating your journal after every FFXI session, that everything that takes place in one session goes in the same post.

- Pictures are encouraged, if you're able. It helps to make things more interesting. Fraps (www.fraps.com) is a handy program for taking high-quality, full-screen screenshots. If you're going to include many pictures, it'd be better link to them, rather than using the [img] tag to display them.

- Apart from that is the usual--keep it clean, and all that, and try to update at least every couple of days so it doesn't look like you've fallen off the face of Vana'diel. ;3

Since those of us playing are on different world servers, or spread out across different regions on the same server, the journals could serve as an indirect means of informing other players of in-game progress, as well as the individual nature of the different servers. Those without the game can see these entries as a taste of what is to come when they get the opportunity to play, and also offer insight on who, what and how to play. It would also help to explain some of the terminology you use, since people unfamiliar with the game would just get lost without it.

Above all, I'm just hoping people take an interest in this so we can get some activity (maybe even some discussions!!! ;3) in here.

With luck, not all of you will be too busy with your lives, or the game for that matter, to take a few minutes out of each day to help save the FFXI forum! ":3

That is a GREAT idea!!! I will start mine as soon as I can... (probably after this week, as I will be playing ffx-2 until i finish it.)
Got a question though... I have 5 characters... should I just keep them all in one thread or create different threads for them?

I think it would be best to keep all in one thread, since five separate journals for each character would probably drown out those featuring one character--like mine. ;3

I'm really glad you're interested, though, and I hope others follow!

It actually took about 9 hours to d/l the patch. But you have to install the game before that, and also go through registration, which adds up to about another hour or two. :3

I own j00 all cos it took me 45 minutes to d/l the patch *cough fast DSL cough* Sure i'll do one if someone gives me a key code, i did a journal on FFS but was bonked on the head by a mod saying that i quadtrupled posted. :o

Here is me (Zedro) at Gusgen mines fighting undead monsters for my subjob items, my god that place is creepy. Randomly an errie siren plays at night time in Gusgen and ghosts come out, i saw someone get close to one and instantly died. :erm:

A key code ?:3

Anyway, good to see you back, UW. I'm sure you're interested in having another go at a journal. Back when you made yours, I'd never even thought of the idea of a journal, heck, the game wasn't even out in the US.

But you're welcome to it now, just folow the guidelines I posted earlier, and stuff, and you'll be alright. ;3

It only costs the 1000 or so in-game gil to buy the worldpass... after that it is just the regular price of the character.
