Im comming here because there are some guru's of FFT here.

I need some feedback on a project I am doing.

I started this project almost a year ago, and now its in full swing due to my lack of other projects and simple webpage maintenence.

I am making an HTML Final Fantasy Tactics walkthrough. Its a walkthrough where I basicly play along and take pictures of story events, fights, funny stuff and other things. Its basicly a guide that someone new to the game can launch on there computer, and see what im talking about. Instead of trying to scroll through lines and lines of text only to run into a mis-worded sentence and getting a screwed up battle formation.

In any sense, its like a retail-quality guide, but for free.

And since this is a (at times) thriving FFT community, I wanted some feedback from you.

I will be breaking it up into chapters. And after the chapters is an in-depth walkthrough on how to get cloud, a tips and tricks section, codez and toolz (FFT Edit will be among them), and a rumors section.

I have about 12% of chapter 1 done. I need to capture images from the save algus fight and two story shots, and I will be caught up to where I was a year ago.

Any feedback at all will be greatly appreciated.

That sounds like a really cool project, if you need help taking screenshots or anything i can try and help out with some, and send them to you. I've played through tactics 3 times, I know my way around pretty well.

I'm wondering are you just doing battles? In other words will there be a section for equipment, jobs, magic, etc..? If not then name it the Final Fantasy Tactics Battle Guide, this will save you the trouble of having to explain to some why you only cover battles.

Are you just covering battles or are you including secret items hidden in the battles?

Oh my what have I done? If you need help since I've got spare time. I'll make an html version of it when you're done if you want?

I dunno if I need help, just consistency.

As far as its going, I have three fights covered. The intro fight, the magic city fight, and the save algus fight. I ahve been so tempted to cheat with FFT Edit so I dont have to spend 50+ hours just building up. But if the fights are too easy, how can I offer advice for those reading that are NOT cheating along with me, you know?

Its a huge moral battle that im wrestling with:

Building up will increase the release time about one and a half to two months, but is fair. Cheating will allow me to finish 90% of the guide by the end of february, (Basicly all fights and story aspects) but wont put me in a good position to offer tactical advice because the story battles DO NOT increase in level when you do. Just the random battles.

To cheat or not to cheat.

Sure. If anyone wants to compile something, that will be great. Im just short of ideas. To save time, I was gonna cut it into sections:

Weapons>Daggers
Weapons>Swords
Weapons>Knight Swords

Instead of

Weapons

You know? Anyone that does wish to heal, im giving you full creative control. You can make it an entire page of actual item screenshots that has a description mouse rollover effect. It doesnt really matter, but the first design has to be implemented on all pages. And I have a template page to use. I was using dreamweaver, but since I left my ex, and she swiped my computer parts and im on a different computer, all I have is notepad. So I took one of the dreamweaver pages and stripped it down to just the side menu, the banner, and empty text and now I use it as a universal page. Instead of making a new one from scratch.

Anyways, ideas on how to do the Equipment section are MORE than welcome, and sorely needed. Anyone who wants to commit themselves to this, I will send you the template page to work with, and a list of the link names. Or I can work out the link names when there finished.

And no. Im not gonna take your work and run. I didnt plan on having a special thanks section unless I recieved help on the guide. But everyone who contributes ANYTHING will get full credit for it, as well as what you contributed listed beside your name and on the page your information goes to. I dont believe in ripping people off.

I would post a sample page of what I have done, but im afraid of someone ripping ME off. I wanna get it finished before it leaks into the public. Or at least off the ground. The sections are as follows:

Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Chapter 4
Equipment
Getting Cloud
Deep Dungeon
Tips and Tricks
Rumors and Myths
Codez and Toolz

Again, any feedback at all is more than welcome. I have the rumors and myths section because I know what its like waisting 30 some hours trying to do something that you read on a messageboard that isnt true.

*Is guilty of spending 30 hours doing something someone said to try and get a heavenly knight*

I felt so stupid. I never went back to the message board. Still havent. Anyways, yeah.

Sounds good. I started FFT but got sidetracked by FF X, which is what I'm playing now. I can't wait to see your site! Good Luck and PM me when it's done, ya?

Yea, be sure and post the site or something, it would be great to have something like that on the internet, my old guide got ripped up because it was cheap. And good luck, I bow to your greatness. I know I couldn't do something like that

Well, good luck. It looks like it will be a very well put-together guide. My friend has an "official" guide, and trust me, it's greatly flawed to say the least. The way you said you will do will surely make for a perfect guide. I wish I could help, but I just don't have the time :(.
