Now that's a weird cross-over of classic film music and techno if there ever was one! Filmtracks hated the guts out of it, but I'm actually into this score. (And I miss Michael Kamen.)

The movie is pretty much The Haunting (the 1963-version!) in space. Too bad the director's "original" vision, which was much closer to a Hellraiser-movie, was not ok with the suits at Paramount and most of the gorier scenes got axed. This could have rocked a LOT more!

I can see where Filmtracks is coming from; it is a very eclectic score with avant-garde tendencies even minus the synthetic elements. An acquired taste, for sure. Still, just like you, I've really liked this score for a long time! I think an expanded/complete leak of the score would be interesting to hear how the elements play out without Orbital's contributions.

Having watched the documentaries on the making of, it really is a shame so much of this film was lost, especially since it was only made in the late 90's! Apparently, a lot of the hell dimension stuff in particular was lost, which I feel pretty torn over. On the one hand, that sequence was one of the best parts of the film. On the other hand, that short sequence was enough for me. Creepy stuff, indeed. A cult classic in my books, for sure.
