I have here all the music I was able to convert from the AMAZING game Journey for PS3. These tracks are MP3s which were extracted from the games XVAG files - they have not been recompressed at all and are the way they exist in the game.

Thanks to some pushing in the right direction by a few kind folks on the XeNTaX forums, I've been able to extract the multi-channel music as well. The second link contains these multi-channel tracks. Again, nothing has been recompressed at all - these are the raw MP3 files extracted from the XVAG files.

At some point in the future, I might combine the multi-channel MP3s back into stereo MP3s, but I have no idea when when or if I'll have the time. If you'd like to undertake this task, please let me know.

Enjoy the tunes and buy the game - the developers deserve your $15.

thanks. An official OST is coming too someday I read on the soundcloud of the composer.

But with Sony it usually takes a while for official soundtrack releases some obscure reason...

And you Sir get a cookie. Haven't played the game yet, however looking forward to the soundtrack. From what I've heard about the game's design, it will depend heavily on sound and music to create atmosphere.

I HIGHLY suggest you play the game first and then listen to the soundtrack. Part of what makes the game amazing is going into it fresh.

It does. It's wonderful.

Thanks for your efforts!

I want to echo the sentiments above and encourage everyone in this thread who owns a PS3 and can spare fifteen dollars to buy and play Journey as soon as possible. It is absolutely the most beautiful and breathtaking game I have ever played in my life. And if you appreciate game music, then you'll love the way music brings out so much of the game's beauty.

Support these developers. Thatgamecompany has made something truly wonderful, soundtrack and game and all. :)

I feel the same way. It's a hard sell, being so short and costing as much as it does. I'd guess it's the publishers that set that price and not anything to do with devs thatgamecompany. If you've worked 3 years on a game you'd want as many people as possible to experience it, so you'd want it to be as affordable as possible.

For me, it really was worth the money. It was a beautiful experience to play through it.

I'm not sure about the States but the devs previous games, flower, and flOw are half price atm on the UK store. It was my experience with flower that made me want Journey so very much.

Apologies for going off topic and turning this into GD. I'll stop now. :erm:

Thanks a lot.

Though is their any way to tell where these tracks occur in the game? Beccuase the file names for them don't really help. :p

The names do help actually. They're in the order you hear them when playing. There are 8 stages in the game and the music is numbered the same way.

After joining the mailing list at composer's website (Austin Wintory : Music Composer : Official Website (http://austinwintory.com/)), the email is sent out containing a link for 1 track download.
It is a part of special Journey-themed free EP, which will be distributed before the release of the official soundtrack.
I signed up with 3 different email addresses but every one of them received the same link for 05 Threshold.mp3
Inside ID tags of the file it says track 5/18, so I'm guessing there will be more newsletters with promo tracks.
But there's a possibility that the window to get the first 4 tracks has been already missed.

Wow, thanks a lot for this great find. I can't wait to see what other tracks you uncover. I've taken the liberty of stringing together the final level's clips into a track I titled "Rebirth." You can listen to it or download it here:

http://www.ffya.org/wp-content/uploads/music/Rebirth.mp3

It's 8m1C1 through 8m6 if you already downloaded the incomplete rip.

Edit: and here's a youtube of it!

Thought I'd bump this up saying that I took the liberty of going through these files and editing them together to create a more game-authentic soundtrack that attempts to replicate the music order and mixing as heard in the game itself (Austin's wonderful OST uses a mixing style that works independantly of the game). Due to this, the multi-channel music often plays more than once, usually 2-3 times, as a way of showing the music with different amounts of layers. Typically it starts with basic layers, then a medium mix, and then all the available channels. This, combined with including cues not heard in the OST, means that this mix is 18 minutes longer than the OST.

That sounds absolutely awesome! :D I finally got a chance to play this game and while I already have the soundtrack, I would love to get my hands on a complete OST too. Do you know when you think you'll release your version?

Also, the multitrack files are absolutely great, thanks for uploading!! Are these all of the songs in the game or are there a few other multitracks missing?
