Summary:

Plot
Heroldsbach, Summer 1981. Jans last summer holidays in the little franconian village are about to begin, before he has to move away from there with his parents. There are just a few weeks left to spend with his best friends STEVIE, and BASTI. To mark his farewell with honour, and to get one over their enemies, the so-called Altortlerbande, the friends plan an adventure that is the most dangerous test of courage in the village: to break into the notorious, half rotten Kattlervilla.

Inside, they find a secrect hiding place in which they discover an old, coded map that leads to a treasure. It has been put there by the WHITE FALCONS, a legendary childrens gang that used to be around in the 70ies. Jan wants to decode the map and starts yet another argument with the leader of the old-village-gang MARIE. In the end, the trail leads to PETER LAUX, the leader of the White Falcons, and his sad story. Jan visits Peters mother, where he learns that Peter mysteriously disappeared after the break up of the White Falcons. That happened 10 years ago, and still no one knows what happened to him.

The map leads the way to an as yet unexplored cave in the franconian area. This is where the treasure of the white falcons must be. Jan and his friends set out to find the cave and to solve the secret of Peter Laux. At the same time the old-village-gang finds out the plans of their enemies. Marie wants to prevent Jan from finding the treasure at any cost.

The children set off on their adventure. Fired by the desire to achieve something special, they walk through unknown forests, build a bonfire beneath the stars, electrify fish ponds; learn a lot about themselves and their courage; and put their friendship to the test. In the end, they must overcome their greatest fears and climb deep into an unknown cave, where they will face Peter Laux and his secret.

When Jan has to say goodbye to his friends after their last adventure, he has not only seen death and kissed a girl for the first time, he has also grown up a bit more, and has learned that magic of childhood cannot last forever.

Marcel Barsotti definitely needs more recognition. I was bluffed by his score for “Die Ppstin” (Pope Joan) and I would be very interested in listening to the music he composed for this adventure film. PM sent.

I will re-upload my friends.

It's indeed a great score and a very underlooked composer in Mr. Barsotti.

I’m so glad you still had this around! Link received way back then. I really enjoy Barsotti’s orchestrations and the use of country style instruments such as the Jew’s harp. Thank you again, WildwoodPark!
