Just a warning that cupu's link is a fake. Every link on the website is identical. They are 1gb files. When you download and play them, you get a few minutes of shaky footage of a webcam pointing at a sign saying torrent48.com and sweet fuck all else.

Kusanagi Fire's seems to be the real McCoy. Don't ask me how, but I managed to get a download going; it's a 1.04gb file. I've played what I've downloaded so far (the first twenty seconds) and it does indeed appear to be the concert.

Download is currently going at 50k per second... if I do manage to get hold of the file I'll upload it somewhere else where you guys can get at it. :)

(edit - 40 minutes later: Download has picked up a bit - now at 130k per second. Definitely the concert. Should be ready in about two hours.)

(edit again: 30 minutes to go.)

(edit again: Done. Now extracting audio for MP3 version.)

OK, here we go, folks.

Here's the MP3 version everybody has been clamouring for. This is just the music; all introductions have been removed. I have no idea who wrote what, so the tagging is vague. I'm sure somebody can enlighten us.

Download mirrors for VA-FFXIVCA1111111.rar - Mirrorcreator - Upload files to multiple file sharing sites (http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/12H4VHMB/VA-FFXIVCA1111111.rar_links)

(Note: This is the original audio from the upload discovered by Kusanagi Fire. I have extracted it losslessly from the AVI, cut it, and tagged it. It has not been re-encoded. Audio is MP3 at 192kbps.)

I'll try to get the whole concert up (ie, video and all) somewhere in a few hours.

Well Naoshi Mizuta pretty much composed majority of the tracks. With the exception of Ronfaure, Distant Worlds, Main Theme ~ FINAL FANTASY XI Version (Uematsu), Awakening, and Gustaberg. (Tanioka)

Although, Four Nations, One Sky ~ A Tribute to the Cities was co-composed by both Mizuta and Tanioka however...

Well, I can recognize at least two themes from the Procession of Heroes medley track - besides Vana'diel March at the start, I can definitely recognize Unity from the Chains of Promathia expansion OST, and Wings of the Goddess (from the expansion OST of the same name). I'm not quite sure what the last theme on the track is though, it's very dark whatever it is.

Still listening through the rest of the tracks - thank you so much Tangotreats for uploading this. :)

Ragnarok sounds far too much like Hirano. Maybe the official listing is busted?

All the thanks in the world, Tango.

After a quick google search on the subject I found a website with the concert program (link: GameMusic.net :: Behold games' true beauty :: News :: The next concert of Final Fantasy franchise is going to be released on DVD! (http://www.gamemusic.net/news.php?id=3125)) and I think you are right; the official listing for Ragnarok seems to incorrectly credit Matsuo. Hirano makes sense too since he was responsible for the orchestration of the other battle themes. I'll edit my post and also thanks for catching that.

Nothing but a pleasure. :)

Ronfaure is Hirano; absolutely no doubt about it. Once again, if I were a woman I'd have his babies.
Hell, I'd even give it a try regardless.

NaotaM

Err, not so sure about Ronfaure. It definitely has like Hamaguchi's sonic fingerprint on it, the way it slowly, sensuously kneads out the orchestral potential of the pretty boring original piece, turning the melodies into flowing string work and thoughtful harmonies. Not as familiar with what Matsuo sounds like, but Hirano this isn't; None of his bombast, complexity or flair. Wasn't even aware Shiro was involved with this until now, but now I can totally hear it.

tangotreats
03-27-2012, 11:26 PM
Fffffffffff, sorry, I meant Ragnarok! Me talky out of arse. Absolutely, Ronfaure is ole' Hamaguchi through and through. This is his original arrangement though - as far as I know he didn't contribute anything new to this concert specifically. Which is a shame; I really like Hamaguchi - great orchestrator, great composer as well... And what does he end up scoring? Jewel Pet Motherf**king Tinkle, for God's sake...

I'm not overly familiar with Hayato; probably I know him best from the Hellsing OVAs and Rayearth. As an orchestrator, he seems to be one of those guys who tries to "stay out of the way" - excellent orchestrations, of course - but I'm not really picking up a massive feeling of "OH THIS IS MATSUO HAYATO WITHOUT A DOUBT!" - although this is probably because I don't know his music well enough...

I agree. Never heard Rayearth; I stick to the Sahashi OVA stuff; but the Hellsing stuff sounded alright. Looking him up doesn't turn up too many original credits, and what I find regarding those tends to agree upon "supports the work fine, but nothing spectacular." He did World God Only Knows, but I hated that show and ditched early, so nothing sticks out. He seems to be one of those types who're great at orchestrating the work of others but just doesn't have that certain spark of their own, or they just don't get enough chances. His only original VGM work lies within the Ogre series, and sharing the bill the giants with Sakimoto and Iwata can't help.

I do love most of his arrangement work, however; I'd describe it as rich, full, classically-oriented, just a touch ornate; and he really should get some more projects of his own to show what he can really do. He and Miyano both.

And, correspondingly, I agree with that.

Bumping. After four years away from the game, I've gotten lost in the music of FFXI again. I would love to have this complete collection, but I can't find it anywhere online. I may even be tempted to pay the full $45 for the set! I would appreciate anyone able to reup the links, or even share them directly.
