EDIT (02/05/2015): Just caught a theatrical screening of Psycho! Wow!!! What an experience!!! But, much unfortunately, it was the lame 5.1 remix version. The only way to watch this movie is in good old MONO!!! Still, the shower scene made my heart pound so hard... it's a disturbing film to watch on the giant screen!!! Wouldn't trade it for nothing... :)

One more thing: there is no FLAC transfer of the Laserdisc isolated score out there! If someone post a WAV version of this, bet your @ss it's derived from this 320kbps mp3.

A bonus: the brazilian Blu-ray (and maybe other non-US releases) has the original MONO mix in DTS-HD MA (48kHz/16bit), so I included a REAL lossless version of the Main Titles in FLAC! Clearly it's best we'll get from it, unless Intrada realizes they released a complete score for the excellent Jerry Goldsmith's Psycho II, but not the for the original... (if they can take a hint at all)

A little background first: this was originally posted by dsguardian around april 2011. He told he got it somewhere else a long time ago and only then decided to do a restoration job, which consisted of hiss reduction, removing clicks and pops (that are normal on the analog audio section of laserdiscs) and so on, and posted as FLAC, but he made it clear that the source was a 320kbps mp3. But, IMHO, I think it kind of ruined it a little, so I kindly asked him the original untouched 320kbps files and he kindly uploaded for me. I haven't seen this anywhere since then, so I decided to post here. Unless someone has a better transfer, this might be the best one of this masterpiece so far...

Wow the bass on these tracks is excellant that's what's been missing from all the bootleg versions which seem to sound flat. The soundtrack you hear the plucking of the strings and the shrieking violins in The Murder really pierce your ears like their supposed to. No distoration at all their is hiss but it doesn't dominate the tracks.

Found it on my drive, I have this one (33 tracks, mp3/320, 108 MB) and the lossless rip from the Laserdisc (33 tracks, wav/1411 kB/s, 476 MB).

I don't know the source of the wav files, but they may very well be a direct, lossless rip from the Laserdisc!

I will upload the 320 version first. Someone interested in the wav files, then let me know!

I tested my uploads, and they work fine from where I am. There is a blue "download" button in the middle of the page. What do you see when clicking my links?

I have clicked on that, but nothing happens, apart from a load of pop-ups flying up. I've even checked my anti-virus settings. Strange

Must have to do with your browser and/or its configuration. Have you tried to block pop-ups in your browser? Maybe that works. I'm using 2shared.com for several months now, and there was, maybe, just one member here with a problem, all others didn't have any issues (apart from some waiting time after several downloads). I suggest to try another browser. (I'm using Firefox).

I've installed Firefox, and still no change. Even used a different computer. I have been able to download from other file sharing sites, so I'm not sure if its anything to do with the settings. Ill keep trying. I appreciate the help though!

Just saw this thread and I wanted to clarify something. Granted, its been a few years since I uploaded the original files, but I never did a "restoration" job. No pops or clicks were removed, the only thing I did was to remove a tiny (and I do mean TINY) bit of hiss. That's all. I really don't think that ruined anything with the original tracks, but maybe that's just me. Just wanted to clarify that. That being said, I'm glad this music is being shared and it's a shame it hasn't seen a proper release.

Just a side note. I made thread on the isolated 2019 blu-ray score, the german extended cut. The sound quality is VERY much like this Laserdisc rip.

I would recomment that one instead of the Laserdisc, which by the way is in lossy 320kbps, and not FLAC. The blu-ray is FLAC (though being from a conversion from a 768kbps DTS stream).
