Did you concentrate on leveling 3 people up constantly? or did you balance everyone out?

I just concentrated on 3 people. Eventually, as you got later into the game, everyone would know just about every skill. But, early on, you needed, for example: Lulu to provide elemental damage, Yuna for white magic etc. But later on, your 3 party members would learn multiple abillities, making it easier.

Just my two cents.

I concentrated on the 3 I used the most and a couple of the others remained pretty good. Two were really crappy though. The big cat guy and Rikku. Rikku was good for stealing though.

The cat guy just coughed up hairballs.

The abilities thing is true though. I got Auron Curaga so he had beefy attack and beefy healing skills.

I tried to switch in everybody so I could develop everyone eventually.

Oh, and yes, Kimahri (the "big cat guy") does cough up hairball,s but Rikku rocks.

I really try to level everyone up evenly but it gets pretty hard when you're fighting monsters that only Wakka, Lulu, and Auron are good against.

well i usually use them all till i beat it, or try using them all. then i just use tidus wakka and auron untill i max them out..... thats what i do when i'm bored ;) such an easy game :P

I tried to use them all evenly, but ended up using Tidus, Auron, Rikku and Lulu more. Both my Tidus and Auron are pretty maxed out though, they both know white and black magic so far ^_^
But my Yuna, Kimhari and Wakka are *weak*. I just don't like their skills much.

I tried to switch mine around a lot, if only for diversity. Although, near the end, after having been capturing monsters for days and day, I got really fed up and used just Tidus, Wakka and Auron, because they're the one who make the most damage the fastest. Don't have to worry about scrolling down to the magic command, choosing a spell, waiting for it to hit and blabla.

It's true that some enemies can only be (easily, anyway) defeated by certain party members, but that's only really the case for Wakka..

Most of Auron's weapons have piercing, which is what's most important about his attacks. That, and him having way more strength.. but when you let any other character follow his part of the sphere grid, you get the same result. And Kimahri has weapons with piercing as well.
Lulu's advantage is black magic, but getting Yuna to learn black magic (via black magic spheres or via Lulu's sphere grid part) is a major help. Her magic is much stronger than Lulu's.
Same for any other character, really.. except Wakka, he has the long-range thingie.

Back to the question.. ^^ I leveled 'em all up, but I tended to neglect Rikku a bit. Kimahri was much stronger and had the 'use' and 'steal' ability, so I usually used him instead. So er, yeah.. ^^;

I always tried to get it so I used all the characters at least once in a boss fight, so that EXP and stuff would get shared equally amongst them. So this stops my most used characters from benefitting the most, but it makes the party more well rounded.

I never really did truly mix up the skills of each character. I guess next time I play through, I'll make Auron a powerful healer as well as attacker.

Oh, and Yuna's ability to summon Aeons also makes her unique. Especially with Aeon Overdrives and stuff.

every battle i used everyone, everyone was always even. i usually switched them in and had them defend so last 3 can finish them off, its the best way to play actually and not really that time consuming cuz defending isnt hard.

In other final fantasy I would usually just stick with 3 guys but for this one I spread the use of the characters, although I relied more on Auron, Tidus and Yuna. In this game you also have to keep Wakka and Rikku at a reasonable level throughout the game or else you will be in trouble when you enter water.

The only characters I used (exception: in the few parts where I was forced to user others) are: Tidus, Yuna, Auron.

The second time I played through the game I used Tidus, Yuna, and Rikku... who actually turns out pretty dang good, mainly because of her high speed.

No matter how easy the battle, i was managed to get everyone in there for some points.

At first I tried to switch mine around alot, but then ended up just using Tidus, Auron, and Yuna full time. All my characters could hold their own, but my weakest were Khimari and Wakka.

I switch out everybody. Khimari was my favorite to use though. I really didn't like Wakka.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">To start with, I used to try to get everyone involved in every battle, simply to level them up evenly. This is back when everyone has their own individual skills, and so everyone had their own uses. After a while though I began only to really use Tidus, Wakka and Kimahri; this really started after I bought capturing weapons for those three only, and wanted to make sure I captured everything.

I still got other people involved from time to time, but didn't really go back to using everyone until right near the end, when I started my proper stat-maxing. After a while though everyone had more sphere levels than they needed anyway. :p

^_^ I completely balanced out everyone the
whole way through the game i couldn't just level up
three as eventually at the end i would have struggled
:(.

If you see me play Final Fantasy X, you'll see me swap people out... A LOT. I usually keep Tidus out most of the time though but I never have a constant group out.

Exactly, it takes like 2 seconds, just go through and have each character defend, then pull out your main characters an dfinish the battle... It levels them all, and the amount of EXP doesn't change, so it's not like your fave. characters are getting ripped off with exp. when you use everyone else...

Right! Or I find that you don't just want to defend, then find a use for the character. Like make Kimahri a secondary thief and then on his turn he can steal something. And put Tidus on Warriror attack mode and have him attack something, anything, to raise his overdrive and then you can learn all of his overdrives more quickly.

My best strategy is to level up all the characters. I use every character in a boss fight. The sin spawn Gui is the best boss to get a massive amount of sphere levels.

Using every character helps big time trust me.

Yea, I change them most of the time. One turn is enough, so I'll give them that and then turn to the party of choice and go kill the monster.

For such easy battles though; like one hit wonders... I don't bother to change.. it makes the battle last too long for me.

I switched my characters all the time, I really enjoyed that part of the game, I found it easier to keep your people balanced. It helped that I did all that switching anyway, when the party has to split up being that Tidus, Wakka, and Rikku are the only ones who bothered to learn to swim...

That's my two cents.

I tried to switch them, though I did have obvious favorites.

My most frequently used party was the one I found most tactically efficenient

Typically this was:

Yuna
Tidus
Wakka
Auron

I'd also use a combo of Yuna and 2 of the other 3.

I switched out constantly. I tried to level up all my chracters pretty easily. Switching out was one of my favorite parts about X- I got so addicted to the battle system.

I just switch out every character and have them perform one action then put back the three to kill the monster.

I started battles with Tidus, Auron and either Wakka or Yuna. Then, I gave everyone at least one turn, eg Kimhari used haste or Lulu used a spell. I also gave party members different abilities, eg Kimhari learnt Haste, Flee and Entrust and Rikku learnt Holy. At the end, my team was fairly balanced out, although Lulu had by far the worst HP levels.

I always switched out characters every battle. I hate when some of my characters are really stronger than the rest. So, I like balance in my games. If the strong ones died, I would have to fight with the weak ones. So I took a longer time leveling up because of my need to switch in and out constantly.
