Informations :

Original music composed and performed by Actarus for the italian edition of the japanese UFO Robot Grendizer TV anime. In Italy the series was known as Atlas UFO Robot, then UFO Robot Goldrake.

This is the first CD release of the "Atlas Ufo Robot" album, originally released in 1978, also including the bonus track "Shooting Star" previously available on the Ufo Robot 7-inch vinyl only.

This edition is currently out of print and only available via the occasional tried and tested auctions at five times the original price courtesy of the usual collectables dealers. Support the artists/labels and avoid these rip-off purchases.

This is not the remastered edition released by d/vibe and distributed via comic shops only.

I have the originals of the dvd's but it seems they do not have the bonus and extras on the more recent editions.
I was working out the font for the .nfo file and I ... ehrmmm... sort of came naturally to that particular kind of font... totally unaware of the dvd extras on the more recent editions.
I went nuts when I spotted the same font on the soundtrack special of the extras the next day!
Must be a subtle passion for the same preferred movie! ;)

It's good music, quite funky and disco in a way you would never expect for an anime perhaps. It sold millions of copy back in the day and when I was presented with the sad option of paying five times the original price I figured out that it might be better sharing it! :)

It will suit your avatar surely!

Back in the 80's Italy had something special about re-writing the main titles and end titles of the imported japanese anime. Bollock session musicians for catchy tunes I am still singing with my little niece this very days.

PS: No! It was not a replicant! It was made in 1974! Quite ahead of everything else... like the movie I am quite fond of! ;)

Same here in France. Most of the Animes aired in the 70-80s had at least their intro theme changed (and when I say changed, I mean new music AND new lyrics), but sometime a whole new soundtrack was written, as it happened for Captain Harlock, or for Captain Future. I have a big folder with a lot of these intro themes. Maybe I'll post them someday in the Old anime ost thread. :)

As for Actarus being a replicant...who knows...the movie we both admire may have been made in 1982... but the book was written in 1968 ;).

You have made me so happy dadadacicici, I mean really happy! I had a low quality rip of the album for ages, then lost it in the great hard-drive crash of 2010, then could not remember what it was called (so had to dig through dozens of late seventies anime albums without success till now!). My favourite track is Venusia ( which is how I recognised the album in the end - I have never watched the series, I don't think it was ever shown here in the UK though I could be wrong) - the female vocals are amazing (by someone called Dominique Regazzoni who seems to have only recorded this album under that name, which makes me think it was a pseudonym as voice as good as hers was surely in demand).

In fact the entire album is great, being a disco/funk fan, I'm a big fan of the work of Vince Tempera who did the keyboards. The original album is very rare, a near mint copy goes for around 100 and the CD from which this rip is from goes for 35 plus depending on the condition - I have never seen the remastered version for sale, but given it was only sold in comic shops and conventions, I can imagine it goes for even more silly prices.

Anyway, huge kudos to ya! You've made my week!

The remastered version can be found sometimes on ebay, european side of it, but the prices are crazy. That's why I wanted to share the music in the first place.

The cd version does sound as good as the vinyl. I can assure you of that though the original vinyl is missing "Shooting Star" which we used to dance along "Kick in The Eye" by Bauhaus and "I Feel Love" by Donna Summer!
Those were times! :)
Hard to come by the original 7" unplayed. It was good music and played to death... and the vinyl is only good for the cover by now.

I remember I had a chance to listen to the remastered version by d/vibe but it was just louder. So I chose to save the money on that. I never saw it again. Neither anyone has ever shared it that I know of.
