I wonder how they are going to incorpret the summons this time.
What do all you think? I think that they will probably have them as materia once again that you can find hidden throughout the world....makes sence, what do you all think?

I think it will be more like you might have to do quests or something to find them, then equip them, like materia, and use MP to summon them.

All I know is there better be summons.

Dark Relic

Yea I agree. They better have them, that was one of my favorite things in the game. It would be cool if they had like thousands in the game but they only apear at different times and there was only one of each but thats very improbable and there will still end up being people withought a summon then.....oh well.

maybe you can give instructions to your summon and the longer it stays out th more mp you have to pay out

I would think it would lag up the area alot, as well as take alot of processing power if a bunch of people was summoning aeons. Id say if they do have them on there they won't be as fancy as the previous games since its on-line and all.

They should make it so you summon them and do damage. Short and sweet. As long as they are there, I'm happy.

I wonder what summon that will be appear in FFXI?

Tidus 540

I think Ifrit is supposed to be in there since I saw him on a pic and labeled Ifrit at one of the Yahoo!Clubs.

As im sure most of you know, the class system in FFXI will be like FFT, where you earn job points for abilities and such...
knowing so, Summoners probably start out w/ a weak summon(moogle, AoE cure, something like that), and slowly earn better summons. I read in a magazine that they will be using summons from all the FF games(Carbunkle[yay], biscmark, unicorn, ifrit, etc.) I WILL get this game and I WILL become a summoner and fry thos bastard dragons all too hell. Nanaki, the summons are short and sweet, but some are long with Damage and healing over time spells, but the summons can range anywhere from 5 seconds too 40 seconds.

(yes...I know my image in my signature doesnt work....pm me if u have an answer.)

I'd play a warrior, just because everyone always wants to be a magician. Be different and all.

Out of curiosity, since I can find no information on this. Will there be typed dialogue on this game? In other words will this be like a mush environment?

Will there be any type of story or will it just be like a MUD free-for-all?

Dark Relic

I would much rather have all classes be able to summon. I would like to be a warrior that could still call in the backup if needed.

Nanaki XIII
01-19-2002, 02:41 AM
I want all classes to summon and use magic. Just have some people be better at it. And I saw a pic of Ifrit so I think there will be summons. I dont know about Tidus, I'll switch him if you like.

Carrbunkle
01-19-2002, 02:53 AM
Are u ppl forgetting that this game will use the Final Fantasy Tactics Class System? If you want to be a warrior and still summon, you can. Say for example, a summoner decides to become a lancer. The summoner can switch jobs, providing he has met the prequistite (in FFT, it was lvl 3 theif i beleive) and still use one type of command ability from another class... In this case he could use the lancer's "Jump" command, and the "Summon command...Summoning lancer...sweet...(drool)...

I am not familiar with the FFT system because I haven't played FFT before. Enlighten me further..and in laymen's terms heh.

Yah like I said I thought I saw Ifrit, and some guy was summoning him, I will see if I can get the pic and post it.

Here it is (it's a geocities file so I put it on a geocities page so you will be able to see it: http://www.geocities.com/sf9rs4me/ffxi_summons.html

Tactics uses the Job system, where when you...urgle

ok think of it as getting money each time you kill something, but you use the money to buy new skills(spells, Summons) and support abilities(countering and defending) and movement abilities(flight, faster running, higher jumping) and add-ons(like a summoner equiping a sword). for more info check the shrines old FFT section.

All the summons will be back, that means maduin it back, and there was much rejoicing YAY!!! But the thing about the summoning lancer is that the lancer would have allmost no magic points to summon with, so that would allmost be pointless (I'm assuming the hp/mp system works like it did in FFT, I could be wrong)

Carrbunkle
01-19-2002, 05:14 AM
I know, i was just making an example, but i once had a lancer who could summon up to ifrit.

Dark Relic

ok i get it, sounds like a alright idea.....makes it realaistic.

Hey, when they say it isgoing to unleash all summon in FFIX, does that mean, Yojimbo, Anima, Knight Of the Round, and Three Magus Sister, too?

Tidus 540
01-22-2002, 07:22 AM
Yah like Eden and all of those ones, also did they really say that they where going to put all of them in?It would be awsome to see all the great summons with newer graphics and all :)

devex
01-22-2002, 07:42 PM
wat would really be cool is if u could control the summons like the characters. there could be different options for wat the summons do:rolleyes:

Carrbunkle
01-22-2002, 10:59 PM
Yeah, but that gets confusing....and if they are player controlled, they're not really like summons, and it be beside the point because the whole point of a summon is to do tons of damage in a cool looking way in a short time...

devex
01-23-2002, 03:54 AM
i was thinkin like a different menu for the summons so u can control wat kinda magic it does like sabins blitz option in ff6

Carrbunkle
01-23-2002, 03:59 AM
I see. that would be awesome! Maybe even a summoner would just specialize in using just one summon, and learn a bunch of different attacks for that one summon. Yeah, I think that would be great...I hope Square implements sumthin like that.

devex
01-23-2002, 04:04 AM
exactly!!!! there ya go... thats exactly wat im thinkin. as the character levels up then the summon can also gain new attacks also like the limit breaks in ff7 except that u need mp to do the attacks and u can do them netime

Tidus 540
01-23-2002, 05:09 AM
Damn that would be cool and crazy, having all the summons back, and that thing that you said, would be great. :D

devex
01-23-2002, 07:35 PM
maybe square can make up sum new summons. keep all the cool and basic ones but put sum new ones in. maybe another dragon that uses ice instead.

joker
01-24-2002, 11:38 PM
well i dont know about everybody else but i loved how you could control the summons in FFX just like a character, and i hate the FFT system..and the fact that you have to pay monthly...this is gonna blow.

Laburnski
01-27-2002, 11:25 AM
Thinking that we can control the summon, it make me very .....Oh yesss:D

Kitten
01-27-2002, 08:49 PM
I hope they bring Leviathan back. That one was the best! They'll probably have Ifrit and Shiva again since they seem to be in most of the games.

Tidus 540
01-28-2002, 05:57 AM
Also Bahamut, he has been there forever (did anyone say that already?)

Nanaki XIII
01-28-2002, 06:51 PM
They will definitely have Bahamut, no questions asked.

devex
01-28-2002, 07:24 PM
Of course they will have bahamut
they just have to.
Ifrit shiva ramuh(no one mentioned that :p ) and bahamut
they are always in the ff games
its just not final fantasy without them four...
mebbe they should have three stages of ifrit shiva and ramuh like bahamut did in ff7

Nanaki XIII
01-28-2002, 07:33 PM
Ramuh wasn't in 8 or 10. hey, those games were from the same creators. Coincidence

devex
01-28-2002, 07:36 PM
yea well they were in some of the best ff games like ff7, ff6, and so on
