ONE MAGIC CHRISTMAS (unreleased score by Michael Conway Baker) (LOSSLESS) (FLAC)

“One Magic Christmas” was a romantic comedy from 1985 with a score by Michael Conway Baker. Baker is a well-known Canadian composer of music not only for films, but for ballet, stage shows, as well as ballroom dancing. He generally creates lush, tuneful music and “One Magic Christmas” is no exception. There are 9 untitled tracks, but totaling only 18 minutes---I guess Christmas wasn’t so magical in Canada that year.

Here’s the link to an amusing little youtube video showing an excited Italian man receiving a CD of the score from Baker himself, after writing him to say how much he liked the music: One Magic Christmas - Thank You Michael Conway Baker!!! - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U4X9x15kEw)

Good stereo sound. No dialog or sfx.
Tau Analyzer and EAC indicate this recording to be Lossless.
Ripped to FLAC with XLD.
Link is in spoiler...

Would really like to listen to this - still watch this movie every year!

How do I open the file?

I am going to assume you are able to download the file, but simply don't have an application to open (unzip) the file to see the individual music tracks inside. Stuffit Expander is free for the Mac, and many people use 7-Zip on a PC. You will need a program like either of these not just for my personal posts, but for everyone else's too. Once you unzip the folder with one of these programs you will see all the individual music tracks, and anything else put in there.

Depending on what format you want your audio tracks in (Wav, Mp3, etc), you may also need to convert the tracks to a different format. The file format I use is FLAC because it retains the highest quality audio. If you instead need Mp3, or something else for iTunes (iTunes doesn't accept the FLAC format), you will also need a file format converter. XLD is very good for the Mac and there are many for the PC that you can download. Do a Google search using something like "convert FLAC to Mp3 on a PC".
Because many people at FFshrine use FLAC, you will need a file conversion program not just for my personal posts, but for everyone else's too.

Good luck!

Thank you so much! I used Goldwave to open and convert the files and it worked! I've always had a nostalgic appreciation for this movie. I saw it with my Aunt back in 1985 when I was 9, and hadn't seen it again until it aired on Hallmark or something about 4 years ago. I bought the DVD and thought how great it would be to have that soundtrack shuffle throught my Christmas playlist, and low and behold it does exist! Thank you for providing this rare music!
