Personally I'm sticking with PS2 simply because my only Windows PC sucks and wouldn't be able to play it, also there's less chance of incompatability, dropped frames due to unexpected background tasks, etc. With the required hard drive and network adapter (I already have that), they have no reason to really crapify the PS2 version like SOE did with EverQuest.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">I'll most likely get the PS2 version aswell. I'm so used to playing FF's on consoles that it'd be.. weird for me to suddenly change to using PC controls. That and no doubt they'd make us update our PC's hardware before we would be able to run the game on it anyway, the way updates are coming out all the time these days. :p I think the PS2 version will be better myself anyway.

PC version, why? Cos not only i have a w00t PC for it.

Ahem, the PC version(october release) comes out 5 months ahead of the PS2 version.

Just saying. :cackle:

Yes, but that's partly because they can get away with being sloppy on the PC since it's more flexable for bugs and stuff (the game runs entirely off the hard drive after installation I think). On the PS2 you'll still need the CD to at least launch the data that is on the hard drive (part of the 'anti-copying' crap most likely).

Plus my Wintel machine is no where near the required specs.

Just saying. :D

I'm not sure where I stand on this topic. From what I've heard of FF XI, it's an online game and I'm not a big fan of these tpes of games. I played Phantasy Star Online on my bf's Dreamcast and that game didn't change my stance on online games.

I don't really know which one I will end up playing. I'm just going to wait until more details are released and such, and make my mind up then.

Both! Though I'd much rather the PS2 version since I wouldn't be restricted to playing it just at this computer (in this lousy room >:\), there's no way I could wait several months on end for that version to be released, while everyone else is enjoying (or at least experiencing) the game on PC.

I still find it hard to believe they'll stick to the October release date, but it'll make my year if they do! =O

1 word for you: keyboard

You ever tried typing on a online game with a software keyboard using the controller? It just doesn't work... plus, u can react A LOT faster with a mouse than u can with a analog stick... I wonder if the PS2 and the PC versions will interface though...

Just buy a Logitec keyboard and mouse, I got mine at staples for $45. Just make sure that they are USB ported.

No, you don't. SQ-E specifically made the servers run on dial-up and broadband. :D

PC for sure. I KNOW my computer can handle it because it runs like a muthafuggin goddess. Not to mention my computer has enough ram to 0wn j00 and a pretty nice GeForce4. I don't do anything with my computer anymore except chat, and D2. So I wanna get my money's worth out of this.

Why not PS2? Because i'd have to buy myself a network adaptor, keyboard, hard drive, and all that other stuff. Plus i'd have to wait longer for the PS2 version to come out.

well seeing that I have a bad ass connection right now i would have to be stupid not to abuse it. plus i dun wanna pay for any of the adapter crap. I made a promise not to screw around a with mah lovely ps2 like buying new stuff to add to her, and she would play mah games perfectly. Can't break that promise, now can i? NO!

I'll most likely switch between PC and PS2. The PC will probably run things better but I perfer to keep up with my FF collection... even though FFXI is on a HDD and not a DVD. I'll be picking up FFXI on the PC once I get a videocard for it. :D

PC is cheaper after having to buy all the stuff i need for my ps2 to play it, and it comes out sooner. and pc pwnz my life.

Well, my PC can handle it, according to the benchmark. And handle it fine at that.

But considering right now is not an appropriate time to get FFXI because I'm nearing the end of term with the ensuing exams, it'll have to wait. And since I'm broke right now it doesn't help either. And next session I might be taking part in a Law contest which will drain too much time. Therefore, I won't really have time to play it until perhaps May. And at this time the PS2 version will be out.

Plus, I'm interested in getting the HDD since it might have other uses later on. I already have the network adapter.

So, for all of these reasons, I'm going for the PS2 version.

uhh... YAY... on the topic of the original post, I am definately going to play with the PC version as I don't EVER plan on upgrading my PS2 with the harddrive or network adapter.

I would get it for PC, but I usually never play games on a PC, It's too different from a playstation controller lol.

I'm going to get it for PS2 as well. But hell, Why 5 months after the PC version. It better be worth the wait:mad:
