This is hardly the symphonic work I was hoping for with the name of Precure Sound Symphony. Music isn't bad but not much symphonic here.

Yasuharu Takanashi's style isn't symphonic though. He does try the sound a little bit here, though, and I think he has the capability to pull it off. But he'd need a bigger budget, he's working with half the musicians Sato Naoki typically got to work with. Plus the two have distinctly different styles, right down to the electric guitar, Takanashi loves his thrash metal while Naoki prefers to be jazzy and bluesy.

I'm kinda disappointed with how few tracks there are on this OST. This puts the actual BGM count in the mid-50s. I have to imagine that the repetition had to have driven Japanese viewers insane unless the director pulled some Fresh and Heartcatch tracks out every now and then. I wonder if it's general cheapness that kept the BGM count so low or maybe if Takanashi just is becoming sick of the franchise the way Naoki seemed to at the end.

I am not so sorry about this soundtrack. Takanashi has is own style, which I love (not talking about the guitar thing, which I like too.), I really his "symphony" that may not be a full orchestra and all, but it is delightful.
But I agree with some tracks being repeated. If the tracks were already released, please do not "Spam" it.

I feel similar. I hoped for an orchestrated rendition of the opening song as was the case with Heartcatch and the lack of budget is now more noticable than ever. Overall Heartcatch stands out among the others (same case with the franchise, as some fans told me, I only noticed the artistic similarities with Casshern Sins). Still, it's very enjoyable and I like the overall cheesiness of the music (and I love his style, god knows why). I suggest we wait for Carnival Phantsam, the music sounds a lot more fresh based on the samples. And Takanashi can definetly work with an orchestra (he worked with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra once).

@Sirusjr: From the information I gathered you've been tricked :D The theme of the show is music so everything related to it is labeled in musical terminology.

I've been hearing that Suite Precure will be joining Splash Star as a black sheep in the Precure franchise. The primary demo (young girls), have mostly ignored this series, leaving just the secondary demo (adult men, believe it or not) to support this series. So I think that Smile Precure will be doing some serious revising of the Precure franchise in general to try to freshen things, or perhaps shift back to Heartcatch's direction. From my lurkings on the Precure community, Suite is generally a total mess, though I have not watched the show to judge for myself.

This all could mean that Suite may be Takanashi's last Precure entry, as they replaced Naoki with Takanashi with the intention to "freshen" things music-wise though it's also because Takanashi can work with a much smaller budget. Though again I wonder if Takanashi himself is sick of the franchise, from a couple of interviews I read he seemed to hint that he was reluctant to come back for Suite until he learned of the "music" theme and so decided to give it a shot.

The music here isn't bad by any means. It's quite good. But you get the sense that there's something missing. I love Takanashi's style as well, though I prefer when he goes into Shiki or Toward the Terra territory. I think Heartcatch's music is quite strong though, especially the thrash metal bits which are totally unexpected considering the genre.

But yeah, I did a BGM count. Outside of movie BGM, there's only 51 tracks across both OSTs and a couple are vocal-less or percussion-less versions of existing tracks. Yeah, I have a feeling that Japanese viewers were driven insane by spammed, overplayed BGM unless some Heartcatch and Fresh tracks got used.

I am happy I am not the only one thinking like this. I first got introduced to Takanashi by is way of using traditional japanese folklore sound. I was so amazed and I still love him when he does that. I like Music very much, and I do not confine myself in just one style, as I love to discover more and more musical instruments. That is another point where I get on loving Takanashi Traditional Japanese sounding. :)
But Toward the Terra is still something I put him at the altar. Shiki was so great and so enjoyable, but it still is not has good as Terra, but I can in fact place in my favorite of Takanashi.

In fact it is. I do not know and I grow sick of new Japanese anime, I just care for my favorite artists works, and this is really freshy, and strong indeed. In suite Precure what I loved was the way he used so much female chorus and a lot of songs. "LET'S PLAY! PRECURE MODULATION" is my favorite track of all, even from the movie. But I cannot deny the "Fukou no MELODY" was a bit or so much nostalgic of What Takanashi really is.

I remember hearing Fresh Precure for the first time and being overjoyed at Takanashi returning to his Toward the Terra sound for that soundtrack. I'm kinda disappointed he has not chosen to flesh out that particular sound and instead concentrate on a more direct, angry sound starting with Heartcatch. I'm pretty sure Naruto hasn't helped him much, though, Naruto requires a direct approach (though Takanashi has done fantastic work with Naruto), and I would bet it's easier, and less expensive, to work with the in-your-face Naruto style than it is to do a Toward the Terra-esque work.

Still, I know some people don't really like Fresh's music that much but Fresh Precure is my favorite Precure score by Takanashi, and places second in the Precure series overall behind Sato Naoki's Yes! Precure 5 work.

Thank you !!

I love this album very much (metal blood inside me). Takanashi done good work at Fairy tale and I love his style which combined Japanese's rock with background harmonic ~
If you had view the wiki about this pretty cure series, you will find Takanashi said pretty cure series was a different experience to him. Try this keyword "Musashi" 六三四.
In fact, Takanashi is still rock on his way, I'm very grateful.

I also have a kind of metal blood inside me. Daisuke Ishiwatari did a good work in "teaching" Takanashi (can't say the same to Hiromi Mizutani).
I still keep on listening some Guilty Gear Tunes in some of his guitar compositions. But for some years now, maybe 2, the Guilty Gear influence has ended and he has composing some new great pieces in guitar.
