Rare? Rare implies that it can be found if you search hard enough. Until now, this has been purely and simply non-existent - for me, anyway!

Thank you SO MUCH! :D

Very nice Japanese TV series score, thank you for sharing. It is unknown to me as well even though I have lived in Japan.

I expect you know the show... it's a re-cut of the BBC's Andes to Amazon. ;)

Thanks lexwalker for this great OST. I hope you will continue to thrill us with more Oshima scores from your collection. Perhaps you might want to add cross links to the Oshima Discography Thread and/or the Film Score Hunt Thread. Someone (like me) might miss this Thread otherwise! Thanks again!

Thanks for all the recent Oshima scores. I have listened to her TV and Movie Best Collection recently and I really miss this sound in most movies or TV shows nowadays. Even games could use another one or two of her scores. Hisaishi did one recently and it turned out to be one of my all time favorite scores so I hope Oshima will eventually score a new one too. Similar to Hisaishi she constantly develops with age and instead of becoming boring and stale she composes one gem after another. Any upcoming anime projects she did sign up for ?

As for other Michiru Oshima scores, check my new post at Michiru Oshima Discography (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f91/michiru-oshima-discography-89760/2.html#post1858623) for a list of scores (including this one) found around the web. Not sure if most of those scores are already in your collection. :)

Sadly, Oshima is going through a bit of a snooze period at the moment; her last TV anime project to date was The Tatami Galaxy in April last year. She did score the movie "Buddha: The Great Departure" which released in Japan this May, but no score release so far. The DVD is coming in December and still no announcement.

She's been a little more busy in Live Action, with a few dramas this year. By her standards, they're fairly unremarkable (including one which is a shameless and quite deliberate carbon copy of Gokusen - the despicable Misaki No 1) but one has just started called Kare, Otto, Otoko Tomodachi which has some potential... She also has a live action film coming up in March 2012 called "Take The A Train".

She's had a hell of a couple of years, what with Sora no woto, Xam'd, Tenchijin, etc, in such close proximity... I guess she deserves a break. ;)

First of all, THANK YOU!!!!! A version of this program aired on the Discovery Channel in 1995 titled "Planet of Life" and used computer animation to illustrate evolution of life. It blew my mind! I was looking for this soundtrack forever, because it was brilliant. NHK Specials always had amazing music. If anyone has the DVD version of this program, please let me know!!!
